What’s your take on Columbo? 😬

I personally find him incredibly entertaining. Honestly, his movies are all solid enough that I can always revisit them; they make for perfect background viewing when you're just flipping through some cable channels and looking for a bit of amusement. It’s great.

"Just one more thing!" 😛😬🙂

It’s not exactly the best fit for those gritty police procedurals—you pretty much know who the killer is from the jump—but it’s still a solid watch. Especially that episode featuring Johnny Cash... it's a standout.

Columbo is just the man 🙂 ... plus, he’s clearly "never seen" a woman before 🤣

Look, sure, but you seem genuinely shocked by the way he actually uncovers the killer and systematically dismantles them... 😬

Actually, saying she was "never seen" isn't quite accurate. She actually pops up briefly in a photo during the episode "Rest in peace, ma'am"... 😲😬

They hit the nail on the head with Dadilja—you figure out the killer within the first five minutes, then spend the rest of the movie trying to guess which eye is glass. 🙂
The real kicker, though, is that Peter Falk played Columbo so brilliantly that you can sit through even his mediocre films just to see him work.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane and think about all those famous actors who made guest appearances. I can still picture Kim Catrall—she was probably just starting out back then, right? And don't even get me started on Faye Dunaway...

I tried sitting through a few of his movies, but I just can't get into them. Knowing who the killer is from the jump ruins the whole experience; I'm basically just sitting there waiting for Lieutenant Columbo to finally corner the culprit. It’s incredibly grating...

Why does that get under your skin so much? It’s just some lighthearted banter... honestly. Besides, he can totally "stare" at the back of your head while simultaneously pinning the blame on the guy who actually did it. Total Superman move right there.

The lead character is what really grates on me. That ridiculous cigar he's always puffing on, all that unnecessary posturing and rambling before he actually identifies the culprit. And once he finally knows who did it, he has to go through this whole elaborate routine just to force a confession...

Man, just holding a cigar in your hand... you end up rubbing the ash all over yourself with your thumb... 🙏

There’s just something about Mr. Columbo and that classic "just one more thing" routine—it’s such a simple, pure pleasure, isn't it?
I hear there are actually books out there based on the series; has anyone here had a chance to dive into them yet?

Man, this cigarette is absolutely killing me—bless its soul, it’s got me wired—but whatever, I’m basically irrelevant anyway since I’m just a phantom in the machine, but anyway... just chill out. You know you've got a killer on your hands the second those opening credits start rolling. He's my absolute idol. :šerlok: 🙂

It really bugs me how he acts all innocent like he’s clueless 😬

but hey, at least I can always fall back on Perry Mason 🙏 🙏

Columbo is solid enough—but if you’ve actually paid attention, certain repetitive patterns start to grate on you after a while, making the whole thing feel almost too predictable.

Every single time he visits a suspect, he starts off interrogating them about some trivial, seemingly pointless detail involving his wife, which—surprise, surprise—always ends up being the key to cracking the case.

And then there’s that routine where he turns to leave the suspect, and you just know exactly what’s coming... He pauses, and right when you think he’s finally out the door, he hits them with that classic: "I have one more question!" or "Just one more question..."

It’s always that one pivotal, "gotcha" question that he suddenly remembers right at the end.

Honestly, these series are nothing short of phenomenal... every single episode hits the mark, and the lead actor is simply superb... truly one of the most entertaining shows I've encountered in quite some time. 🙂
