Blood Diamond

Man, honestly? Just another one of those movies that tries way too hard to tug at your heartstrings by throwing wars and kids at you... I get it, we need films like this to remind us what actually matters, but I’m just totally over them unless they’re actually masterpieces—like, think *Schindler's List* levels of good. This one was just... boring. Honestly haven't sat through something this mediocre in a long time. And I don't mean the movie is "bad" per se, it's just that I don't have the emotional bandwidth left for this stuff anymore. Everything feels so cliché lately—the characters, the plot, whatever... By the end, I was almost rooting for everything to just fall apart just so there could be one single innovative moment. 😈Basically, a total letdown. 4.5/10. As for DiCaprio, he's a solid actor, period. And I don't get why people trash *Titanic* so much—it wasn't some groundbreaking cinematic revolution, it was just a really successful movie for its genre. People watched it because it was huge, and then they complain about it just because they didn't like the vibe. Whatever. I think that role was his most important one, though—without it, he'd probably just be some random teen idol from a CW show or something. 🙄Later!

The movie was decent enough. Solid action sequences. What really stuck with me, though, were the scenes where they train the kids—that whole process of brainwashing them to turn children into nothing more than cold, efficient killing machines. I watched a documentary about that exact subject years ago, and it’s one of those rare themes that actually gets explored here and in >.
It reminded me a bit of how things work in some of those gritty crime dramas; DiCaprio isn't exactly my favorite actor, but he managed to pull off a performance here that felt way less juvenile than his usual stuff.
All in all, it kept my attention. I'd give it a 7/10.

The movie is fine if you just want something to pass the time, but it didn't exactly blow me away. I’d give it a solid 6/10. It definitely had room for improvement—especially when it comes to the character development—but it's still worth a watch.
