Ron Dennis bans alcohol

Ron Dennis has banned Ferrari's 2007 driver lineup from drinking alcohol.

Even though Kimi Raikkonen's reputation for enjoying a few drinks was a topic of conversation back when he was with them from 2002 to 2006, the chairman at the Woking headquarters is making it clear—the only alcohol Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso should touch this year is the champagne sprayed on the podium.

Following a training session where his drivers worked alongside Olympic athletes in USA, Dennis told The New York Post: "WE don't see why Drivers need to have even One drink in The course of a season."

The irony of Dennis' stance is hard to miss, though—especially since the current slogan from Johnnie Walker's McLaren-associated brand is: "be a champion. Drink responsibly."

They got burned by Kimi once, and now they’re playing it way too safe 😬 And then they make it to the podium in Indianapolis or Saudi Arabia, only to be handed some juice instead of the good stuff 😉

He would be much better off focusing on the cars rather than obsessing over his drivers' private lives, unless that’s somehow written into his contract. Suddenly he's all concerned about alcohol consumption, yet he fought tooth and nail to keep that drunk Finn in what can only be described as a total circus of a team. I suspect that after half a season, Fernando will be looking to pull a move similar to what Jenson Button did at Williams.

I mean, I think Ron Dennis is just talking nonsense here. It’s almost like he didn't even let his drivers win those trophies—it's more like he just grabbed them for himself!

I don't see why anyone should be stopping Fernando Alonso from having a little tequila before or after a race...

Of course he’s drinking. Kimi was a total North American—drove for Mercedes-Benz, married a gold digger, and has money coming out of his ears. 🙂

He won't. I mean, I think drinking is the last thing on Fernando Alonso's mind, even if he has a drink once in a while. It's probably not going to stop him from chasing the title. He just seems like the type who doesn't let that kind of stuff get in the way. He's maybe too focused on the big picture for that.
