Flags of Our Fathers / Letters from Iwo Jima

Just finished watching Letters from Iwo Jima.

That whole "Japanese perspective on the events" (which was supposedly sentimental too!) just doesn't work at all. Honestly, it bothered me so much that I can't even bring myself to think about this movie anymore; I just felt the need to share my frustration with the world. 😁

It's interesting—the same thing happened to me with Flags of Our Fathers, which I still haven't actually sat down to watch, and honestly, I'm not even sure I want to!

It works well enough 😁 especially since it was also filmed by Eastwood.

Just finished watching Letters from Iwo Jima. Honestly, the whole approach caught me off guard, especially with Clint Eastwood directing. I mean, sure, if you ignore the heavy-handed emotional tugging and some pretty unconvincing CGI explosions and stuff, there are some really decent, beautifully shot scenes... but on their own, they just don't quite hit hard enough for me to rank this movie above the other war films out there.
