Heh, personally, I consider the Disney masterpiece to be an absolute work of art—anyone who has seen "When Little John Falls Silent" and the subsequent entries knows this—but I would argue that "Hannibal Rising" serves as that one vital, indispensable piece of the puzzle we needed to truly grasp the psyche behind why Hannibal turned out the way he did...

The Disney movie is exhausting to watch, and Timothée Chalamet just didn't sell the role of Hannibal for me. Honestly, it was a huge letdown and easily the worst entry in the franchise.

A massive disappointment. A total dud of a Disney production—and the casting for Hannibal was an absolute train wreck.

Since we're already talking about this... might as well weigh in 😁 This Disney is an absolute train wreck. The first half kind of holds its own—the war scenes are solid, the house setting works, all that stuff—but after that, it just goes downhill fast. In the book *Little John*, things get way darker... like, Hannibal eats a meal and realizes by pure accident that his sister was the one on the menu because he spots her teeth in the toilet or something... but the movie ignores that depth. Instead, the final act feels like some cheap comic book nonsense—just constant sword swinging and mindless action that’s honestly exhausting to watch. I was basically counting the minutes until it finally ended.

Does anyone actually know the right order for all the sequels? I want to sit down and binge them properly... I’ve got a few of them lying around, but there's no way I'm watching anything until I can go through them in the actual chronological order. I need that flow, you know?

Here’s how you should tackle them:

Manhunter (directed by Michael Mann back in '86),
The Silence of the Lambs
and then Hannibal.

After that, go for Red Dragon (2002). It's decent enough, though it feels pretty obvious it was made just to cash in on Anthony Hopkins and his role as Lecter.

As for Hannibal Rising (2007)—honestly, it's total garbage. It doesn't fit anywhere in the timeline and feels completely disconnected from everything else. You could maybe watch it if you're really into bottom-of-the-barrel movies, but wait at least a month after finishing the first four before you even think about touching it.

It’s such a shame because the core concept and the backstory are actually top-tier material...

But you've got these stereotypical villains, dialogue that feels totally goofy, characters that just don't land, and a plot that feels super thin. Still, there are a few solid scenes in there, and the acting is decent enough...

So yeah, that's my two cents! 😬

Just catching up on this now
Where did this Asian woman come from in all of this? She's acting like she owns the whole damn place, haha.

Watched it last year. Honestly? A total disaster. It takes a character like Hannibal Lecter—someone enigmatic, charming, and always three steps ahead—and turns him into just another mediocre, run-of-the-mill psychopath. To make matters worse, the guy who wrote the script is the same one who penned the books. 🤦
