I’ve actually read the book, and honestly, it isn't bad at all—especially considering it was written by a 17-year-old kid (seriously, some people that age can barely string a coherent sentence together). It borrows a bit from Lord of the Rings and a little from Harry Potter, but overall, the plot is pretty engaging.
I'd love to go see the movie, too.

I’d probably want to watch the movie too, but honestly—I'd much rather dive into the book first. driftingtinker822, are you from the Novak family by any chance?

It’s a bit of a shame when Malkovich ends up in these kinds of commercial flops, isn't it? 😬

I’ve finished reading the book, and frankly, it didn't do much for me, which naturally means I’m not expecting any miracles from the movie either. I suppose I’ll head to the theater to see it, but I don't anticipate it being some life-altering cinematic epiphany for anyone...

I finished reading the book just a few evenings ago. Honestly? I have a feeling the movie might really mess things up. It feels like the whole production was only ever designed to shake down the fans for cash. Those kinds of movies are just bad investments, if you ask me.

Actually, wonderful scale was written by an eighteen-year-old girl, and the book is genuinely quite good. So, I suppose we should probably give the guy another decade or so to mature before he can write a true masterpiece like the old masters such as Tolkien... though I will admit, he definitely has some solid ideas and managed to pull off a full book.
Now, someone mentioned that the book is okay because it's intended for children, but I find myself wondering if that was truly his target audience... because, if I'm being honest, I don't really get that impression.

Please keep in mind that the guy was only sixteen when he wrote the book; even so, I think the story is actually pretty great.

Sienna Guillory 😍 😍
I’ll probably go see it just because of her... I don't usually care for this kind of movie.
But Sienna 😍

So, I basically read the book, watched the trailer, and thought, "Yeah, this looks like it'll actually be worth watching."
even if it turns out to be some tragic comedy like Dungeons & Dragons 🙄

and get this—he was only 15 when he finished the first book.
it feels like you can't even write a simple book anymore without it ballooning into something like six hundred pages long ☕

It looks ridiculous; the trailer alone isn't even worth watching. It reminds me most of that Russian movie Night Watch (which honestly looked like straight TV production—how they managed to market it as a Cinema spectacle, I have no clue 😕 🙄).

I wasn't interested in this at all, but man, this is even worse than I imagined 👎

I was going to mention Dragonheart, but actually, never mind 😬

though maybe it’ll end up being a total disaster, kind of like Dungeons & Dragons 🙄

I get the impression that the only reason people claim the book is good is because some 15-year-old kid wrote it... I mean, I acknowledge that, but it still doesn't do anything for me...

Just because a book is 600 pages or longer doesn't automatically make it good; I really don't see how that has anything to do with the quality itself.

Alright, I checked it out. As far as directing goes, it’s a total mess—the set design looks like some war-torn wasteland or something. But honestly, that’s secondary. John Malkovich practically stared me down with how much he sucked. I really thought Jeremy Irons was going to carry this thing, but nope. And Rachel Weisz? She voices the dragon with zero emotional range—it sounds like she’s just reading lines from a teleprompter. It’s just a little pathetic. Honestly, it's worse than it looks. You get the feeling some kid wrote the book just to sell a script and ended up making the lead character completely brainless. In my opinion, movies like this should be banned, but clearly, you can still sell even garbage if you wrap it in shiny foil... 3/10

First off—this movie was clearly made for kids.

Secondly, I’m constantly on the hunt for a solid fantasy flick, so there's still a massive drought in that genre for me.🙂
I didn't really care for it—honestly, I wasn't a fan of Narnia or Harry Potter or anything in that vein either...

Now, I have this sudden, irresistible urge to watch Willow three times in a row right after this.

I have a profound appreciation for the Fantasy genre, yet this particular motion picture stands as one of those rare instances where I felt a desperate urge to simply walk out of the theater mid-screening. It was utterly tedious. Furthermore, it is saturated with clichés to an almost overwhelming degree. The acting, the cinematography, even the depiction of the dragon—it was all quite dreadful (though I must concede that Sienna Guillory was absolutely captivating). In terms of its cultural weight, Harry Potter holds for him what Lord of the Rings holds for Harry Potter. I truly could have spent that time attending a lecture on Norse sagas instead, but alas, I had school obligations to attend to.

Avoid this one at all costs...

As far as I can tell, Harry Potter isn't even Fantasy...
