I'm curious—if someone cuts their own skin and then stitches it up, is there any actual chance the tendon underneath the incision could snap for some reason?

Good day, everyone. I find myself in need of a bit of guidance regarding a minor medical setback I’ve encountered. To give you the full picture: I suffered a tendon rupture in my middle finger—specifically at the distal interphalangeal joint, right near the nail. My physician initially advised that I wear a splint to immobilize the digit. Fortunately, since the tendon hadn't completely snapped through, surgery wasn't deemed necessary. I spent six weeks strictly adhering to the immobilization protocol, and once I had my follow-up appointment, the doctor removed the splint and declared the matter settled. However, there is a lingering issue. Immediately after the splint was removed, my finger remained somewhat straight for a few days. In an effort to regain mobility, I began performing various exercises, such as clenching my fist to work on flexibility. Despite this, even though I can make a full fist without any trouble, the very tip of my finger still hangs slightly limp when I extend my hand. It just won't stay perfectly straight. Has anyone here dealt with a similar injury or recovery process? I would greatly appreciate any insight into what the next steps should be or if this is simply part of the healing timeline.
