So, I noticed about a month ago that there's this tiny little bump on my chest, maybe an inch in diameter. To be honest, it felt a bit smaller back then, but I didn't really think much of it at the time—I just assumed it was some kind of pimple or skin irritation. It’s round, sits right under the surface of the skin, and you can barely even see it unless I look at myself from a very specific angle. It doesn't hurt at all, no stinging or itching either; it only feels a slight bit of pressure if I happen to press down on it quite hard...

Does anyone have any idea what this might be? I have an appointment scheduled with my doctor this Wednesday, but I'm feeling a bit anxious and would love some insight before then... if anyone knows... please help!

Ugh, I’ve been dealing with a lump in my breast too—it actually started out smaller and then just grew, which was super scary. It used to hurt like crazy, but now it’s mostly just tender if I happen to press on it, kind of like what you're going through. Honestly, I’ve already gone in for three different ultrasounds and even the doctors seem totally stumped! Every single time they just tell me to come back in six months for another checkup because they don't have any real answers. They keep suggesting it might just be fatty tissue or maybe a swollen lymph node, but if that were true, would it really feel like a distinct lump? I mean, who knows... but seriously, please go see a doctor regardless—though, hey, maybe it really is just some fatty tissue after all...

I'm a 38-year-old male.

About two weeks ago, I happened to notice this hard little lump tucked away just below my collarbone, slightly underneath the right side of my nipple. It’s sitting right there under the skin—you can't really see it from the outside—and, surprisingly, it doesn't hurt at all, not even when I press on it. In the fortnight since I first spotted it, the size hasn't budged an inch.

Does anyone have any inkling of what this might be?

Thanks,

Brad

Look, we can sit here and guess what it is—someone might even give you a "solid" answer—but the reality is you're going to have to see a doctor eventually. My advice? Go sooner rather than later. Hope everything turns out fine. 🙂 👍

My advice? Get to a clinic as soon as possible. I really hope everything turns out fine. 🙂 👍

I appreciate the kind sentiment. 🙂

I suppose I was just hoping someone might offer a rough idea of what I'm dealing with, though I fully realize that a doctor's visit is already on my schedule for the next couple of days; I simply thought it might be helpful to hear from someone who has actually navigated this particular mess before.

Thanks again,

I was just hoping someone might be able to give me a ballpark idea of what we're looking at. I've got an appointment scheduled with my doctor in the next couple of days anyway—I just wanted to get a perspective from someone who might have dealt with something similar in the meantime.

Thanks again,

Brad

No problem at all! I’d love to be more helpful, but honestly, I haven't a clue what this could be. Really hoping for the best for you. 🙂

It could be a lipoma—a benign fatty tissue tumor. No need to panic!!!!

A few years back, I started noticing these little bumps on my chest. They’re right in the center, between the nipples. They vary in size; some have definitely grown over time. The smallest ones you can feel are maybe a millimeter, most are around 2-3mm, and the biggest hits about 5-6mm.

There aren't a ton of them—maybe twenty. I haven't seen them spreading over the last two years, but they aren't going away either. It feels like they're just stuck there. You can't see much looking at the skin, though there's a slight bulge and a white tint underneath.

When I press on them, they feel semi-firm. If I squeeze hard enough, some of the ones closer to the surface actually pop out a whitish substance. I'm guessing it's concentrated fat, but I can't be sure. It looks a lot like light butter. It's similar to what comes out of a blackhead, except there's no "blackhead" head to speak of.

With some of the others, nothing pops out; they just sort of "squish" under pressure. I have a few actual blackheads in that same area too.

So, what am I looking at here, and how do people fix this? I tried Googling it, but besides a few guesses, I got nowhere. I couldn't find anything specifically about which of these—lipomas, cysts, dermatofibromas—can actually be squeezed out like this. I should mention my family has had lipomas, but those were usually one large lump, not a cluster of tiny ones on the chest.

Also, I'm wondering if it's possible to clear these clusters out using a syringe to suck out the "fat." It seems like that might actually work.

I forgot to mention: I'm a 20-year-old male.

Thanks.

Three months ago, I found this hard lump under my skin on my chest—about the size of a kernel of corn, located 2 cm from the nipple. I went in for an ultrasound, and they told me it was just some fluid buildup, though the actual report listed it as a subcutaneous lesion. Since they couldn't be 100% sure what it was, they referred me to a surgeon to just have it cut out immediately. I turned them down; I want an MRI first so we actually know what we're dealing with before anyone starts cutting...

It doesn't hurt, and the thickening isn't bothering me at all.

If anyone here has dealt with something similar or has any medical background, I’d appreciate some insight...

My boyfriend has something similar on his chest—just a little lump under the skin. It doesn't hurt, though it occasionally feels a bit tight and looks a little red. It’s located right in the center of his chest rather than near the nipple.
He saw a dermatologist who told him it wasn't anything serious, and he should just keep an eye on it and return if there are any changes or if it starts causing issues.

Why would you even need an MRI for something like that?!?!?!?!? 😕

Because an ultrasound won't give me a definitive answer on whether the tissue is benign or malignant.

As far as I know, an MRI provides much more precise data.

But are you actually aware of how much radiation exposure comes with an MRI?
I mean, imagine if you had to undergo an MRI for every single little lump, growth, or subcutaneous mass you found! 😕
Perhaps it would be wiser to seek a second opinion before making any final decisions?

From what I understand, an MRI doesn't involve any ionizing radiation, unlike a CT scan.

Fair enough, that is certainly your call to make.
I am not entirely sure if we are discussing the exact same lump on the chest, but if we are, I personally don't see much point in getting an MRI unless there is something truly suspicious going on.🤷
