Honestly, this whole franchise doesn't do much for me. I have a soft spot for trashy movies, sure, but nothing this overproduced. It’s clearly designed to look "cool" for a teenage audience—and the worst part is, even as a teenager myself, I find it incredibly underwhelming.🙄The first movie is easily the least stupid of the bunch, but it’s also the most boring; the plot and characters just lack any real substance. I actually preferred the second one because it leaned harder into the action, whereas the third one was just mediocre. The main character really started getting on my nerves in that one.

I’ve seen all three films multiple times, and honestly, they’re more than just good. At least for me... but I feel like they overcomplicated things with this fourth installment. If what briskbison41 is saying is true—that this is actually a sequel to the first movie—then it feels pointless. The fourth part has absolutely nothing to do with Tokyo Drift. And then there’s Sung Kang, playing Hal... as far as I recall, he died in a car crash during Tokyo Drift. Unless he’s playing some entirely different character now. Or maybe he just rose from the dead for this sequel... They really should have realized this and filmed the follow-up much sooner. Regardless, I’ll see how it turns out. Vin Diesel is back, so it’s worth a watch anyway. I guess we'll see...

You've got it a little wrong.
In Tokyo Drift, Vin Diesel (Dom) mentioned that he knew Hannah a long time ago. That they used to drive Muscle Cars together (since everyone drives Tuners in TD).
So the timeline actually takes place while Dom and Han were still driving together.
Basically, the movie picks up right after the first one (Brian gets out of prison and teams up with Dom and the feds to take down some guy).
Everything goes down in Los Angeles and the deserts of Mexico.

I caught this movie while riding the bus earlier. Honestly, the highlights for me were those gritty little proverbs from that old, wicked mob boss. 🙏 Between Star and that one Japanese person, you’ve got wisdom coming from all sides—it's basically a masterclass! 🙏

The first movie was great, the second was a bit of a letdown—mostly because that opening chase scene looked so fake due to cheap special effects—but the third one was a complete disaster. Why? For the exact same reason as the start of the second one... except instead of an opening chase in the States, everything just looks artificial. As someone who actually loves cars and racing, that stuff just doesn't work for me. Then there’s the dialogue, which is just plain stupid. Look, I get it, a movie like this doesn't need deep philosophical discussions, but here they tried way too hard to make it happen, and it feels totally forced. The acting is an absolute train wreck (honestly, *Step Up 2* has Oscar-worthy performances compared to this)... this movie has zero quality, even in the parts where it's supposed to have actual substance.
If they shoot a fourth one with the original crew, it’ll be way better since those actors actually have some credibility.
Regarding what someone mentioned about where they got those cars and garages from... this takes place in Japan or America. People have money. It’s just like how some 18-year-olds in the US have a BMW ready to go thanks to their dads.
