While he certainly isn't some paragon of virtue, one has to offer him a modicum of praise for having the sheer audacity to confront those in power using such blunt, unapologetic language.

Interestingly, the Spanish Minister of Sport just announced a sweeping new piece of legislation that would allow for stadium closures and massive fines—up to $550,000—specifically to crack down on racist outbursts.

What are your thoughts on the state of racism within American soccer?

There aren't enough Black people here for racism to even really take root, which means there isn't anyone to direct it toward. So, I guess everything is fine. 😁

First off, when I say something like "that dumb Black guy scored twice on us," I’m not trying to be hateful about his race—it’s just how it comes out in the heat of the moment. If an Icelander scored, I’d probably mutter something about some "dumb blond" scoring, and if an Englishman did it, I'd likely call him a "total jerk" for ruining the game. It’s all just part of the intense atmosphere of being a fan, I guess. 😁

Honestly, I’d love to see those types tossed into a federal penitentiary for a month; maybe after some real time behind bars, they'll learn how to act. People here start making a huge scene whenever there's an insult directed at a Black athlete. It feels like nonsense—just a way to make us feel inferior compared to the rest of the world.
Why is skin color treated as a bigger deal than insults based on nationality, religion, or where someone's from? That stuff happens at pretty much every game. But the second someone gets targeted for their race (like what happened to Edward during that last game in San Francisco), everyone loses their minds and suddenly Americans are all racists.
In the US, we've never really had a massive issue with racism regarding Black players specifically. All this media coverage is just manufactured drama, creating problems out of thin air to make us look bad.
