Why do they insist on totally screwing over remakes instead of actually fixing the bad movies? Like, imagine if they did Pearl Harbor the right way; or let the aliens finally wipe out everything on Earth instead of having Will Smith hack them with an Apple laptop—or if they filmed Troy without making Achilles look like some innocent bystander. That's just my first thought, there's plenty more where that came from! Instead, they just go and ruin perfectly good classics... and then have the nerve to post SPOILERS for them. Helloooooo?

It seems like this movie doesn't carry much weight with the cinephile crowd—not that anyone really cares. It barely even registers a decent score on IMDb.
Personally, I found it alright. The standout for me was that "carousel" sequence... the whole execution scene where they kill off everyone who hits thirty.

In my opinion, out of all the sci-fi classics, Logan's Run is the one that most desperately needs a modern overhaul. I never really connected with Michael York... he always felt to me like someone in the same vein as Timothy Dalton, a solid enough actor, but just inherently unlikable...
I was browsing IMDb and noticed they’ve made a few tweaks for this planned remake; apparently, the age of death isn't 30 anymore, but 21, which is an interesting choice 🙂 But if Singer ends up directing and they manage to cast a truly talented young actor to play Logan, the movie will almost certainly surpass the original...

I don't use IMDb scores as a benchmark either. If I want a sense of what a movie is actually like, I'd rather just read some reviews.
As for Logan's Run... it isn't a masterpiece, but it's solid.
And I agree with the people who think Michael York was the wrong fit for this role. To me, he's much better suited for those "nerdy" types.

I think Logan's Run is actually fantastic... Back when my satellite dish was picking up TNT, they’d air it constantly, so I must have watched it at least ten times. For me, the standout moments are when those two escape the city and start wandering through what used to be Washington, especially that beat where they stumble upon the Lincoln Memorial... That specific vibe totally reminds me of Planet of the Apes, specifically when Charlton Heston comes across the ruined Statue of Liberty. It's wild!
The idea of dying at 30 honestly gives me the chills. What kind of culture has to exist to actually brainwash its people into accepting something like that as "normal"?
