I dive using standard goggles. Honestly, whenever I get back from the coast, I usually just pick up a new pair.

I don't really have any issues with my gear, whether I'm out during the day or at night...

Alright, another update for you guys.

So, I’ve been sitting here for a month waiting on my second set of contact lenses 😠 even though they were supposed to be here within ten days. I can't even wear the first pair because they totally distort my vision, and the second set? Still nothing. I honestly miss that feeling you get with actual lenses—that sense of seeing things for what they really are. Glasses just don't cut it for me 😢 and I haven't even switched back to my old soft contacts yet. Now I'm stuck with this nagging, gross thought that I'm basically walking around with something foreign shoved in my eyes all day 😬
I already blew off a few precious weekends hitting the slopes because glasses are useless for skiing, and my doctor flat-out told me not to wear my soft contacts 🙄

My bottom line: the method itself is great, but the doctor? Absolute garbage. He’s shady and completely untrustworthy. He says one thing and does another. I’m heading back to his office today just so I can give him a piece of my mind. If anyone happens to know a decent specialist—maybe someone out in the suburbs or even a highly-rated pro in a nearby major city—please let me know.

Once these lenses finally show up, I'll check back in. 🙂

I’ve been wondering—why don't eye doctors ever really push colored contact lenses? Is it because of how they might double-refract light through the lens? If anyone actually knows the science behind this, I'd love an answer. Thanks! 🙂

Now, this is something I’ve been wondering about myself. Up until this point, the only arguments I’ve ever heard against it were centered around poor hygiene practices and the potential risk of inflammation.

I haven't heard anything about that before. I would certainly love to hear more of the details.

I’m curious, how long did it take you guys to actually get used to soft contact lenses?
To be honest, I’ve been wearing mine for about a week now... and it’s been a total nightmare.👎
They’re constantly irritating my eyes... they won't stop watering... I can't even look around normally. For example, if I'm looking straight ahead and then turn my head to the right, my eyes just start flooding up immediately.😠
What should I do? I had absolutely no idea this would be such a struggle... and now I feel like my eyes are super dry, yet they keep tearing up constantly! 😕 ...The instructions say you're supposed to wear them for about 7 hours a day for the first week, but I can barely make it through 5 hours without feeling miserable!

I’ve been wearing them for eight hours straight since day one, despite my doctor explicitly telling me to ease into it with just two-hour increments, so I guess I'm just stubbornly trying to acclimate myself...

Go talk to your doctor; it might just be that you have incredibly sensitive eyes.

Well... yeah... you really ought to wear them for an extra hour every day... though during those first few days, you won't even be able to look straight, just stare at the

If that doesn't do the trick... you should probably switch to the soft ones

Btw, how old are you?

It took me about a month to fully get used to it, so I definitely know what you're going through... 🙂Are you finding it too soft to actually wear?

On my first day, I managed to wear them for maybe an hour and a half... and even then, it was a struggle. I spent the whole time just staring at the floor. At first, my optometrist gave me the soft lenses, but they just didn't sit right with my eyes. Then she switched me over to the semi-rigid ones, and those actually felt great. Honestly, the lenses themselves aren't the issue—it's this constant watering that drives me crazy.

It took me a really, really long time to finally get used to them, but honestly? Now, I can't live without them.

If you're 18 or older, I wouldn't recommend going with semi-hard lenses for your very first pair...

Or maybe this specific type of semi-hard just isn't right for you. Just like soft lenses, some work perfectly while others don't fit at all...

Birth control pills could potentially be the underlying reason why you're experiencing such an intolerance to lentils.
If you are currently taking them, the package insert should list this under the section regarding potential side effects.

I’ve been struggling with my soft contact lenses for six months straight—honestly, I just couldn't get them to work with my eyes no matter what I tried. In the end, I finally gave in and switched to the soft ones. They're okay, I guess... but man, I'd be a whole lot happier if I didn't have to shove this crap into my eyes every single day.

Hmm—I visited my eye doctor just a few days ago and everything seemed fine... though I went without my mom, since I'm still a minor... and now I'm left wondering... He didn't provide any paperwork or give me any specific details—he just told me to check in with the receptionist or the nurse instead...
So, I went ahead and followed those instructions, thinking she might have some documents for me... but she didn't have anything at all...
Now, about two weeks have passed since that appointment, and there hasn't been a single follow-up call or update...
Does anyone know how this usually works? Should I reach out to the doctor directly, or perhaps wait?

Hey there. They were asking if you wanted to order those contacts.

Some weird doctor... 😕
The whole thing sounds pretty unprofessional to me. What do you mean everything went fine? How can you even have an exam if you didn't walk away with a report or a prescription..?
Total nonsense. You don't have much choice but to call them back or just head back in—maybe try a different doctor this time.

Wow, that doctor sounds seriously bizarre...

I’m guessing you went through your primary care provider? If you’d gone to a private specialist, they probably would have given you a much more thorough breakdown of everything...

I’ve been wearing contact lenses for almost 15 years now, and if I can offer any advice, just go see a private specialist (unless, of course, you're dealing with some major underlying eye issues). I’ve always stuck with private clinics and honestly, I haven't regretted it once; you can just pay for a quick exam without feeling pressured to buy anything from them right then and there.

I have to ask—does anyone actually have experience with this? Has anyone ever had contact lenses delivered directly to their doorstep?

I've been in contacts for about 8 years and stick to my local community health center. It’s worked fine for me. Some of my friends went to those fancy private boutiques and, besides the high exam fees, ended up having actual issues with the lenses they were sold. Even at the public clinics, you aren't forced to buy anything from them—at least not the ones I've visited. They don't even stock much for sale.
Not that I'm saying all private doctors are bad, or that public clinics are perfect. 😉

Oh, and the lenses didn't exactly show up at my front door...
