I’m not sure if any of you have heard about them yet... those overnight contact lenses.
Anyway, I finally scheduled an appointment with my eye doctor, and I’ll most likely be getting them. I want to know what you all think—any insights, knowledge, or actual experiences with these lenses?

I've already read through all of this, and frankly, it’s all old news.
But wait, Bradley Smith claims she was wearing them and then just vanished without a trace?!
I'm looking for actual updates here—give me something substantial for once.

Day & Night, I can't quite recall the brand name off the top of my head. They have a 30-day replacement cycle. Personally, I wear them for three or four months at a time without any issues whatsoever. And yeah—they stay in constantly. No taking them out.
I’ve been using these for four years now, and honestly, I haven't had a single complaint.
My eye doctors keep making these dramatic claims, acting like I’m headed for total blindness... man, the nonsense I’ve heard over the years is endless. There was only one piece of advice that actually made sense:
"If your eye isn't reacting poorly—if they feel comfortable and don't bother you—then don't sweat it."
To make a long story short, I spend three or four months at a time completely oblivious to the fact that I'm nearsighted. I don't even think about the fact that I wear contacts.

And look, I'm not saying your comments are vague—it's just that your approach is totally all over the place!

The manufacturer is Focus. (I’ll admit, leaving the brand name out felt a bit unprofessional)
Like I said, I've been listening to what the veterans have to say—people who have been in this industry for decades. They finished their degrees thirty years ago, and for them, medical advancements and material science basically hit a standstill back then. This particular forum member probably works in the field, but the companies he represents aren't playing by those old rules. So, anyone jumping on board with new tech is basically acting like a kamikaze pilot.
The box says "30 days".
I use them way past that at my own risk, and I'm fully aware of that.

I suppose you think those lenses are some kind of dream come true, but they aren't the kind of lenses I have in mind.

Contact lenses are honestly a game changer. I’ve been scrolling through some of these old threads just to reminisce about when I first made the switch 😬

I haven't seen an eye doctor in ages—probably should feel a little guilty about that—but my eyes and these lenses are doing just fine. Or, at least, things are good enough that I completely forget I even have nearsightedness 😍

I'd definitely recommend giving them a shot, though I know it’s not a one-size-fits-all situation. I actually have a friend out in Chicago who tried them and ended up having to go right back to glasses or standard contacts

It's all subjective, I guess. If you have any specific questions, hit me up. For me, they work flawlessly 🙏

Does anyone have experience with the Ciba Vision Air Optix Day & Night lenses?

Bradley Smith, how long have you actually been wearing them?
Has your prescription improved at all? How many lens replacements have you gone through so far?
My prescription is sitting at -6.5 and -8 (and it's getting worse), so my doctor said we could give it a shot, though they aren't making any promises.
The whole thing is just going to be expensive $1000, or so I've been told.

Good grief, the things you read on here. Optometrists don't need to pass out; you're the one who's going to pass out when someone finally tells you that you've trashed your eyes over something totally stupid.
I'm genuinely curious—is this how you handle things, like, say, changing the oil in your car? You just decide to stretch it out for another 31075 miles based on a recommendation?
I really don't think you grasp the sheer amount of bacteria you could be inviting in, not to mention the potential retinal damage. For your own sake, stop doing this—and especially stop recommending it to others and acting like it's something to brag about.

Look, I’ve been reading up on this for a little over two years now.🙂
I switched pairs a couple of times during that first year because one set kept sticking too hard to my eye—it would make everything look totally distorted. Up until last month, I was actually testing a new pair against my old ones, and I finally realized the "new" batch is way better. Usually, if you need to switch lenses, insurance covers it because the doctor has to find the perfect fit, but if you lose one, you're on your own.

Honestly, I don't know if my vision has improved, but the main perk for me is just being able to see clearly, period. You see fine with the lenses, and you see fine without them. 🙏 Whether it's skiing, diving, camping, or riding a motorcycle... 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍 I've done all of that over the last two years without even thinking about contacts.

And now it's 3 $0.00? Look, I dropped $5,000 on this, and honestly, it was worth every single cent. I haven't even considered surgery anymore. Then again, my prescription isn't huge—just 3.25 in one eye and 2.75 in the other. At the end of the day, the call is entirely yours 🤷. Either way, good luck 🙂 and let me know how it goes.

So, here’s my understanding of what the doctor said: we’re going to attempt to halt the progression and hopefully reduce my prescription by about 2.25 diopters. Otherwise, I'd be stuck wearing my glasses full-time during the day. According to his logic, if we actually manage to lower the prescription, I would likely have to swap out those specific lenses—assuming the lenses are tied directly to the prescription—which means I'd be replacing the glass every single time my vision shifts (provided it happens gradually rather than all at once). Honestly, I'm not even sure myself.

So, what happened to that rule about a maximum of -4 diopters?

Yeah, he’s spot on. When I first called to ask about it, they told me it was impossible to get down to -6. I almost gave up hope right then and there. But I decided to go in for a consultation anyway, and the doctor confirmed it actually can be done. Honestly, though, they charged me $0.00 just for a thirty-minute consultation!

unless I end up stumbling around in the dark at night, and then I don't bother putting my contacts in until the next day.😁

I actually brought up those lenses with my eye doctor, and he just laughed and told me, "Not a chance!"
