Every single time summer rolls around and I finally switch over to flip-flops—or sandals, or basically anything open-toed—those little spots start popping up on my big toe and heel.
And honestly? Nothing works. I feel like I’m scrubbing them a hundred times a day and slathering on every cream under the sun... but nothing sticks.
Seriously, does anyone have a real solution for this?

You should probably head over to a dermatologist just to make sure you're actually dealing with a fungal infection.
If it turns out they are, honestly, stop washing your feet constantly; fungi basically thrive in moisture, so keeping them soaked won't help you get rid of them anytime soon.
Using an antifungal cream like Neosporin, Monistat, or something along those lines ought to do the trick, but the real secret is just being super consistent with whatever treatment they prescribe.

I was wearing those Japanese sneakers last year... man, they run so narrow.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an antifungal cream for feet? I’ve been using Monistat up until now, but honestly, it hasn't really done much for me... Or maybe there's some kind of home remedy that actually works?
Please help!🙂

Honestly, just go see your primary care doctor instead. Have them take a look and write you a referral for a dermatologist—this isn't something you want to mess around with.

Hey everyone, I could really use some advice! About a month ago, I noticed a small patch on my skin that just wouldn't go away. I tried rubbing some aloe vera on it, but no luck, and then a few more spots started popping up on my legs. I ended up rushing to see my doctor, who took a look and told me it’s a fungal infection. She prescribed an antifungal cream, which I've been using for a week now, but it doesn't seem to be working at all—if anything, it's spread to my stomach.

Has anyone here dealt with fungus before? Is there a specific cream that actually works? Also, does anyone know if this is something that stays with you, or does it clear up? I'm really hoping I don't pass this on to my husband.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Gerald Morgan4, that’s exactly what I’m dealing with right now! It's enough to drive you crazy. You just have to stay persistent!

Hey everyone.
Has anyone else dealt with this? For a few years now, I’ve been getting these patches on my skin. I apply some Monistat cream and they clear up. BUT... once I spend time tanning or go to a tanning salon, those exact same spots show up again as lighter patches. It feels like the Monistat just lightens them, so when the rest of my skin tans, those spots stay "un-tanned." IS THERE ANY WAY TO FIX THIS?? Please help! I honestly can't tell which looks worse—the dark spots or these light ones—but either way, it's driving me crazy. I asked at the pharmacy, but the woman there told me they don't have any cream for it and that I just have to wait for it to fade away on its own. Now I'm stuck wondering if I should keep applying stuff or just stop...
Thanks for any advice!
kiss

Monistat isn't going to do much for ringworm, honestly. Do you even know what this thing is actually called in medical terms? Like, the actual professional diagnosis?

It’s really not a big deal. My doctor actually told me to just pick up some Monistat. She said they’re just standard skin patches. The weird thing is, they eventually clear up, but that spot stays lighter than the rest of my skin once I get a tan in the summer. I've always had pretty pale skin anyway.

I'm betting it's Tinea versicolor, honestly... I've been stuck with the exact same thing. So far, I've tried Monistat and Lamisil (the 1% stuff), but absolutely nothing is working. Does anyone know of something actually effective? My doctor swore Lamisil would clear it up, but I'm starting to think these things are just immune to everything, including Monistat...😢

Where can I find some Lamisil? Honestly, I’m already dreading the summer heat—I don't want this thing bleaching out in the sun...

You can grab it at any drugstore, even without a prescription, but honestly? Just go see a dermatologist. My GP gave me Lamisil for my pityriasis versicolor once and it did absolutely nothing... zero. You really need a specialist to take a look, otherwise you're just guessing if the treatment is actually going to work or not.

I just can't seem to snag an appointment with a specialist, and my GP says this whole thing is pretty common anyway... A friend told me she cleared hers up using a tanning bed and hasn't had an issue since. Honestly, though, I’m not really feeling the idea of baking under those UV lights. What if it actually makes things worse?

I don't think tanning beds are even remotely the answer here... I’ve got a massive phobia of skin damage 😁
Those spots show up because your skin's ecosystem is totally out of whack. Those fungi are actually normal "residents" on everyone's skin, they just go absolutely haywire when your pH levels or humidity shift... I don't see how sitting in a UV booth is going to fix that kind of imbalance...
unless it just burns off everything living on your skin, but that's definitely not what you're trying to treat 😁

Is it better to use the cream or the St. John's Wort oil? I mean, because of the hypericin content

Well, look, that exact same hypericin is what causes photosensitivity, so you really have to stay out of the sun. You can find St. John's Wort oil at basically any health food store or herbal shop, or if you happen to know someone living down by the coast, most people just keep it as a standard staple in their home medicine cabinet. It actually works, too. A friend of mine was dealing with something similar and she tried every single ointment under the sun, but then she stumbled upon St. John's Wort by accident and it finally helped her

At least give it a shot, it won't hurt you 👍

Natural stuff is always the way to go... I'm gonna try to track this down and let you guys know how it works out. How long does it usually take to actually kill off those little pests?
Honestly, I have such bad luck with fungus. It popped up in that one spot on my back that's impossible to reach, so I basically need a human sacrifice just to apply any cream 🤣
And since I'm flying solo for the next couple of weeks, I'm pretty much screwed for treatment... unless I start knocking on the neighbors' doors to see if they'll help me out 😂

I HAD THEM ALL OVER MY BODY FOR TWO YEARS. TRIED EVERY CREAM UNDER THE SUN. FINALLY CLEARED UP.
