THAT BEAUTIFUL MIAMI NIGHT – drama series (1/3)
In the dark, deserted alleys of the Miami ghetto during the final two hours of New Year's Eve, three stories emerge from the chaos of the celebrations. Three different couples find themselves converging near Times Square—Nike, a small-time dealer, and Mary, a widow with a child; Maya, a young addict in crisis, and Frankie, a disillusioned sailor; and the naive, lovestruck teens Luke and Angel—all struggling to escape the extremes they've been pushed into, changes that will alter their lives forever.
Last year at the Sundance Film Festival, the film picked up several golden arenas for camera and editing, along with the "birch" for best debut. It also won numerous awards at international festivals (Boston, Constantine, Cottbus) and was even nominated for an award from the European Film Academy in 2004.
Episode 1: NIKE
Right as New Year's Eve approaches, Nike, a low-level dealer, decides to ditch the city and his girlfriend, Mary. But his attempt to con his boss falls through, leaving Mary—whose son isn't exactly thrilled about Nike showing up at the apartment—as his last shot at salvation.
