1. Deco (he won so much with FC Porto and he’s absolutely killing it lately)

2. Thierry Henry (only won the Premier League title)

3. Frank Lampard (honestly, he's my absolute favorite midfielder)

👍

I find myself in complete agreement with this assessment. While I must admit a certain personal preference for seeing Ronaldinho take the top spot, one cannot simply ignore the actual statistics and results. This is undoubtedly the correct answer. 😁

If we’re talking about picking the most easy-on-the-eyes player, I’d probably go with Alessandro Nesta—but since looks don't actually matter when you're playing the game, I'll say:
Pavel Nedvěd!

"nedvedinjo" is going to laugh all the way to the bank while they take home the award 🙂

Results are what actually matter.

We shouldn't be picking the player with the most trophies; we should be picking the "best player." It might be better to use the term "most impactful," but soccer isn't basketball—you can't just crunch numbers to quantify a player's actual value.

It’s gotta be Michael Ballack, hands down.

Andriy Shevchenko

If anyone deserves this—it’s him. Period.

We aren't just talking about last year or how he's playing this season; we're talking about the insane level of consistency he's maintained over his entire career...

Serie A: Golden Boot winner
Champions League: He's constantly finding the back of the net, basically carrying AC Milan on his back, and even stepped up to bury that deciding penalty against Gianluigi Buffon
UEFA Super Cup: Scored the winner to make it 1:0
Supercoppa Italiana: Dropped a hat trick on the Lazio National Team
National Team: Been their absolute best player for years now.

And honestly, the most important thing is that he's a class act. He's never aggressive, never gets sent off, rarely even picks up a yellow. Just a total professional—a true role model.

He's had an incredible start to this season, acting as a true leader, and he's hands down the guy who earned this most.

His biggest competition? That's Thierry Henry. If you're asking me to be objective, sure, Henry might have more goals, and maybe hasn't grabbed as much silverware lately, but... I don't know. It's a toss-up.

I seriously cannot wrap my head around why anyone would even put Francesco Totti in the conversation. Look, mad respect for what he's done, I really do, but after that spitting incident—

Totti—regardless of how mediocre AS Roma is or how much of a disaster the European Championship turned out to be, last season in Serie A was hands down the best of his career. When a shadow striker is putting up numbers like that, you can't deny the season was legendary.

Ronaldo? LOL. I don't even want to go there. Just... no.

And Totti? Seriously? After getting spat on? After that complete disaster at the club level where they won absolutely nothing?
And let me say it one more time: after getting spat on????

Why call him a LOLčina? The guy bagged 9 goals in the World Cup qualifiers, and they’ve barely even played a handful of matches. He was the top scorer in La Liga too. You can't just judge a player based on one tiny slice of the season; you have to look at the whole picture.

As for Totti's spitting incident, that doesn't mean we just wipe away all the incredible football he put on display throughout the entire season, especially during those first three months of the year.

Thierry Henry and especially Andriy Shevchenko had an absolute blast at the European Championship...

Luckily, when they're picking these things, they actually look at other qualities and traits too.

Ronaldo isn't gonna walk away with it, but Sheva and Thierry Henry are the heavy hitters for this one.

The European Championship is a total joke, just like the World Cup.

Hmm, why’s that? As far as I know, those are the biggest tournaments out there. You think the Champions League matters more? Is this just some capitalist competition closed off to the poor? Only open to the rich who get their slice of the pie once they step outside those "heavenly borders"?

Yeah, look, the Champions League and the National Championship are way tougher than the World Cup or the European Championship... It's a total no-brainer.

Look, you become a legend at the World Cup or the European Championship, especially the World Cup. Just because your favorite player never even showed up on that stage isn't an excuse to act like an expert now. Diego Maradona and Pelé would never have been "Diego Maradona" and "Pelé" if they had only won domestic titles or some random cups.

bi.

You seriously think Diego Maradona got all that fame just by playing for the national team?

It was way more about him crushing the National Championship with every single club he ever stepped foot in.

Theoretically speaking, way more people actually tune in to watch the National Championship and the UEFA Cup than they do for the World Cup or the European Championship.

And look, Sheva didn't exactly bomb it in those big tournaments either—it’s not his fault, and you shouldn't be acting like some big-shot expert trying to rank good and bad players based solely on that one narrow lens.

Plus, besides Sheva, who's easily one of the greatest strikers and arguably the best left winger to ever do it, there wasn't anyone else really stepping up on the big stage...

I’m not the one being petty here. I said YOU don't give the European Championship or the World Cup any respect just because your favorite player isn't on the pitch. And yeah, obviously, the answer is Ryan Giggs. Did you actually doubt me? You've also got George Weah, Jari Litmanen, and plenty of others. Then there's that massive pile of Brazilians who couldn't even make the cut for their national team.

Not to mention that massive pile of Brazilians who couldn't even make the cut for their national team.

Nah, I don't care about the World Cup or the European Championship just because "my guy" isn't on the pitch.

Those tournaments are basically nothing compared to the National Championship or the club scene...
