It’s good someone noticed that Bennett is actually Freddie Mercury, though I’m pretty sure Bennett the Australian is just an Australian who’s been shot through with a barrel...

(And hey, if you think Escape from NY is better, don't get mad at me; they're basically the same movie.)
LA and New York City are night and day. LA is just plain dumb, whereas New York City is a total cult classic—even if it’s weirdly nonsensical in its own way. I'm with you on LA, but don't go attacking New York City 1997 just to defend Carpenter's eighties legacy. It's like looking at a marathon runner years later and wondering what happened to that guy.🙂
Honestly, FOX is pretty mindless TV.

hehe, I guess it's true... somehow it was back on FOX yesterday and I ended up watching it again....and I honestly died laughing...😁 😁 🙏

Ah, those gorgeous, bulging muscles of Arnold the Governor, as he elegantly crawls out of his coveralls, trips, and almost faceplants right into the sand...

I swear, listen to this... I was scrolling through the American editions of Maxim and FHM on Algorithm yesterday when I stumbled upon this "movie soldier showdown." After grinding through the round of 16, the quarterfinals, and the semifinals, it all came down to John Matrix versus John Rambo. Matrix takes it...😁

This is one of those flicks I’ve watched a hundred times, yet I still find myself hitting play every single time👍
Of course I’ve seen it, and of course I was filming it too😁
The Film is law

The movie is stupid—honestly, I don't think it could be any more brainless. Everything from the actual plot to how it was put together is just... meh.
But hey, that’s exactly where you see all of Arnie's massive greatness and charisma shine through! He takes this totally moronic script and some pretty uninspired directing and somehow turns it into a cult classic—I mean, it's easily one of the best action flicks of the 80s (and honestly, ever)!
For me, the absolute best scene in the whole thing is when he's rowing...😁

DON'T YOU DARE INSULT THE U.S. MILITARY!!! !!!!!!!!!!
The absolute peak moment in the movie: (that exact scene where he kicks the guy in the leg)
I let him go
and
You don't have problems with me. You have problems with gravity!!!
By the way, this is easily my favorite film of his next to End of Days (which is just as good, in my opinion!)

He isn't allowed to. According to UN Resolution 7865-44 dated October 24, 1984, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been officially designated a "weapon of mass destruction," which carries a strict ban on leaving US soil.

Any kid born in the late seventies had a core set of thirteen legendary flicks they grew up on—think four Rockys, three Rambos, Conan, Terminator, Predator, Commando, and some racing movie. It was basically our childhood, and even now, whenever someone brings up Commando, my buddies and I start rehashing the old stories.
We spent about eight months waiting for it as kids. We knew it had to arrive eventually; it was a massive hit in the States, so the rumors eventually trickled down to us kids here too.
We actually wasted time going to the theater to see two wrong movies because we were convinced *that* was the one. The posters just said "Commandos," but obviously, Schwarzenegger wasn't in those films like Women of Commandos (which is honestly one of the biggest trash movies ever made) or Professional Commandos (I can't even remember what that was about). But hey, we were eight years old—what did we know? We were basically just looking for an excuse to watch those movies, burning through whatever pocket change we could scrape together. We actually gave up candy and Bazooka gum for two weeks just to afford a ticket.
We prepared for this for a long time; we knew exactly what we were waiting for.
The real fun was the competition: whoever brought back the news from downtown (where the actual movie posters were posted) saying Commando had finally arrived in our small town would be crowned king of the street for the next month. Every single morning, we’d race toward the center of town since we lived pretty close by.
I wouldn't be telling this nostalgic story if I hadn't been the one to do it. And because of that, I earned the undisputed right to play the legendary John Matrix during our reenactments in front of our apartment buildings the day after seeing the movie. I'd lost the races for Rocky IV and Rambo II two years earlier, so this was my moment—make or break.🙂
Ahhh, Commando... just thinking about Schwarzenegger on that poster holding a gun is enough. It was a major highlight of my childhood. That kind of pure kid happiness is something today's kids wouldn't understand—maybe it's just drool-worthy nostalgia for me, but damn, it was real.

I haven't laughed this hard in ages, just sitting here reading this brilliant website. That "Where is Val Verde?" link is absolute gold. 😂

This movie gets absolutely wrecked.. The beginning is definitely the peak, where Arnie just carries that massive log weighing maybe 600 pounds like it's nothing... or maybe even more? Who knows!!

Look, let’s be honest here—movies like Commando, Rambo, and Predator just don't hit the same way anymore. They simply don't work in today's landscape, and frankly, it's a shame.
What’s actually the worst part about all this? They’ve gone and traded in actual cinema for mindless stuff like Romeo Must Die, Fast & Furious, Rush Hour, and that whole genre of junk.😈 .
Give me a break—these new action movies are just absolute idiocy if you ask me.
Kids these days constantly complain about movies like Commando—they actually sit there questioning how a single guy could possibly take down an entire army. Honestly, it's exhausting.
Come on, give me a break—this movie is pure entertainment. You aren't supposed to take it seriously, and honestly, this is exactly the kind of stuff I grew up watching. Now, don't get me wrong, when it comes to mindless nonsense like Fast & Furious, I just don't get the hype. To me, those aren't even real action movies.

Honestly, Schwarzenegger is the gold standard. We need more quality action movies like his. Nowadays, everyone playing the lead looks like a runway model—these "highly educated experts" who supposedly master heavy weaponry and high-octane explosions in their early twenties, only to go flying through the air. And the moment they take a punch to the face, that perfectly manicured modern hairstyle stays stuck in place as if it were coated in three layers of extra-strength hairspray.

I grew up on this movie, and honestly, it might be one of my all-time favorites.
Maybe The Matrix killed about 80 people in this one... and whatever 🙏, at least I didn't see a single person fly backward ten or twenty feet just because they got hit.
Think I'll go rewatch it tonight.👍
