Hannah Thompson2 said:Man, I am counting down the days—I’m hitting up the store to grab a copy the very first morning it drops! I also heard a rumor that Championship Manager isn't going to be around much longer, since they're pivoting over to Madden NFL instead. From what I've seen regarding the new features coming to Madden NFL, I honestly don't think I'll ever want to step away from my PC once it's out. I just really hope it doesn't launch with the usual mountain of bugs that forces me to spend all my time hunting down patches!😲

Oh, come on, don't talk such nonsense—Championship Manager 5 is definitely happening, 100%.

Yo, for everyone still grinding on those old-school Championship Manager 01/02 days, there's a brand new update out for the current season!

I honestly can't get past CM 01/02. If there was some way to mod the game so it didn't always start in 2001, I'd probably just download the update every year and play until the day I die.

I wonder if you can actually play through the American leagues in Madden NFL, because I know for a fact you could do it in Championship Manager.

The specs claim you can play with 140 professional leagues across 43 different countries. Honestly, it’s pretty likely we’ll see the US included in there too, since I seriously doubt they’re going to bother adding a ton of random non-Western leagues...

If it was included in the previous versions—meaning CM 03/04—then it’s definitely showing up here too. They might just add more leagues this time around, but there's no way they're giving us fewer.

Well, I suppose I'll have to pick up Championship Manager 3 myself; everyone seems to be raving about it!

Look, Championship Manager 3 is hands down the best manager game ever made—at least when it comes to pure gameplay. But if you're coming from CM4, you're gonna feel the gap. You lose the 2D match view—it's just text commentary in CM3—and the resolution sucks. It runs at 800x600 and looks pretty pathetic compared to CM4 because the fonts are massive and you can barely see anything on the screen.

Look, I actually liked those big letters in the old Championship Manager (traditional font style!). Besides, there were plenty of options for buying and selling players, and the training was fine too—you could actually track player attributes without relying on those green and red arrows. Now, they say the new FM is going to have player photos, which seems totally unnecessary to me. Not to mention that you could run the old CM on pretty much any ancient, low-end PC. By the way, does anyone know the minimum specs for FM? I can't find them anywhere.

I've officially put in my order for both Madden NFL and Championship Manager—my buddy promised he'd probably get me both by next Friday. We'll see how it plays out!

I'm with you on the classic font style—bigger is better—but the catch is you can barely fit anything on the screen. You end up scrolling through tables forever just to see one thing. As for the specs, no clue, but even this beta version runs smoother than CM4—maybe match processing takes a beat longer, but at least we have background processing now.
