Did anyone catch that absolute train wreck of a movie last night?
Can someone please explain how I fell for the hype? How did I think this was worth ninety minutes of my life when it wasn't even worth the electricity used to stream it? Honestly, I feel like I have nothing better to do than waste time on 😵 😵

Can someone please explain why I actually thought this was worth ninety minutes of my life instead of just throwing it in the trash immediately? Seriously, I’m clearly only good for 😵 😵

Look, even if you think I'm an idiot for liking it, I didn't hate it. Actually, I kind of did. The way Altman captures that pure, unhinged hysteria was pretty spot on. So yeah, I can't tell you how to avoid feeling ripped off, but that's my take. 😳

I’m not here to call anyone an idiot; everyone’s entitled to their own take.
It’s like with Eyes Wide Shut—plenty of people trashed it, but I actually enjoyed it. I guess you can decide for yourself why those intense orgy scenes worked for me, even if that final shot of the baby being born didn't quite hit the mark. It wasn't that the birth itself was gross, it just felt... off. Like, you could tell it wasn't a real baby.
And look, I’m not saying I’m some kind of freak.

I actually skipped the movie as a total protest, and honestly, I’m probably gonna keep boycotting anything where Richard Gere shows up because it’s gotta be garbage. It all started back when my crew and I were watching some trashy flick. God, just die already. 🙂
Who does that creepy, old, skinny little creep think he is?

I was scrolling through some forums back then and managed to catch a few scenes here and there.
Honestly, I don't even have a comment on the movie itself (I just can't wrap my head around how anyone spends their time and money on a production like that).

For instance, brightscout63 seemed to appreciate the way they portrayed hysteria, but for me, it felt way too over-the-top. (I know, I know, I am an American woman 😁, and I certainly understand a thing or two about being hysterical. 😉)

I did like Liv Tyler; she had a certain fullness to her. 🙂 But that’s just about her looks; I won't say a word about the acting. 😁 However, I will comment on the woman Dr. T falls for (I don't actually know her real name or the character's name; like I said, I only watched bits and pieces). She's the one who acts in that one series with a husband. 😁 Now, that woman never does anything irritating, but she is perfectly plain. Whether it's through her presence, her speech, or just her overall vibe... she's just your typical neighborly aunt.

What else did I notice? Not much...

Addendum: Finally, in what you might call a "lowbrow comedy," you get a vivid look at childbirth, even if it's depicted as this clean, plastic, and rapid event. 😁 And that's just the start... Sex isn't a taboo subject anymore, nor is murder; I don't see why childbirth always has to be shown behind pristine sheets with just a tiny bead of sweat on a forehead... 😉

It’s just become an association of incompetence for me. It all traces back to that one afternoon when my friends and I sat through that disaster, Runaway Bride.

Well, you certainly found a way to avoid it. Though, if we are being honest, calling Runaway Bride a catastrophe doesn't necessarily put the blame on Gere. He has actually delivered some quite respectable performances in other films, provided one looks past the rom-com era.

That’s exactly what pissed me off at the end! If they weren't trying to save money, why didn't they show a real birth? They clearly had the budget, so show us the blood and the actual mess, not this sterile version where the baby comes out looking spotless. I mean, hello?! Even the pizza looks too perfect.

I didn't think the movie was bad...

Everyone kept telling me not to waste my time on such nonsense, and honestly, I almost believed them until yesterday.

It turns out most of the people giving me advice were just expecting some mindless comedy filled with hot women...

I'm not saying it's a masterpiece... it's just... interesting.

I went to see this absolute disaster of a movie just because a friend talked me into it. Honestly, it was the worst waste of $8.25 in my entire life. I still haven't let her live it down.

What does that old creep think he’s doing? Just a skinny, unpleasant hack.
🙂

Richard Gere is actually charming and a solid actor,
but the movie itself is pretty lackluster.
He must have been paid a massive paycheck for this one.😳

Jeffrey Edwards5 said:It’s just like *Eyes Wide Shut*—you know, that film? People absolutely tore it to shreds back when it came out, but honestly, I actually quite enjoyed it!

Well, things are actually working quite the opposite way over here! It’s funny how that happens—you expect one thing, you prepare for the alternative, and then—presto!—the whole situation flips right on its head. It's a bit like expecting a sunny day in San Diego only to find yourself caught in a sudden downpour, isn't it? Just completely contrary to what I was anticipating! 😁 Good grief—honestly, *Eyes Wide Shut* is hands down the most tedious movie I have ever had the misfortune of watching. My goodness! It’s just an endless slog—sort of like sitting through a three-hour lecture on tax law when you’d much rather be catching a ballgame! 😱 So, there I was—trying my absolute hardest to stay awake because we had guests over—when my roommate just completely conked out right next to me! And then, out of nowhere, she starts snoring away quite softly. It’s one of those situations where you’re fighting sleep with everything you've got, just trying to be a good host, and suddenly you're being serenaded by a rhythmic little snore! Honestly, it’s like trying to study for a final at NYU while someone is running a lawnmower outside your window—except much quieter, of course. Just a total struggle to stay alert!
Dr. T is just... well, he's quite rather sophisticated, wouldn't you say? I found his portrayal to be quite astute—really, he captured that quintessential, middle-class suburban family dynamic perfectly! It was all so wonderfully nuanced.

Believe me, I get it. I have a girlfriend. That kind of hysteria? It’s not even an exaggeration. 😉
