Jose Miller3 said:You can get this done whenever you feel like it. Even if you’re technically out on medical leave—though they might give you a hard time about it, but honestly, who cares since you aren't actually on leave anyway...

The paperwork side of things is super easy. Just find a new doctor, tell them you want to switch over to their practice, and knock out those few necessary steps whenever you have a moment.

Thanks

I’m looking to switch my primary care physician, but I was wondering if there’s an actual list of doctors in a specific city who are already completely overbooked. Specifically, I'm looking at Miami, or am I stuck calling everyone one by one to ask? Thanks in advance for any info.

Is it legally possible to switch my primary care physician if they're currently in the middle of an evaluation for disability benefits?

Just looking for verified info here.

I remember reading somewhere about what "rights" I’d be giving up if I switched to a doctor outside my neighborhood, but I can't track down the page now.

Basically, nobody in my area is taking new patients—I've checked every single local clinic possible, and they all say the same thing—even though they aren't even hitting their quotas... I actually reached out to Medicare and the director, who basically wanted me to hand over specific names of doctors so they could go "handle it" (as if?), but I really don't want to cause drama for myself or them..

But honestly, staying with my current doctor isn't an option either. There’s zero rapport there—no connection at all—and I actually feel embarrassed just asking for help.

I'm honestly stuck..

Just tell the doctor you already cleared it with the FBI administration and that he definitely has an opening, then just politely ask him to take you on.

We talked about this before, but you don't lose anything by switching to someone else within your district. And regarding this whole mess—I disagree with you, you really should give them the names. Yeah, let them handle it. I need to dig up where I read that if doctors have fewer patients than the limit, they're required to take you on. I'll let you know for sure if it'll be an issue. If you're cool with it, shoot me a DM (PM) letting me know which neighborhood we're talking about.

I’m honestly dying to know—what kind of actual rights are tied to which neighborhood here in the States? Like, is there some specific law that says you lose certain rights just based on which district you happen to live in?

People were talking about this ages ago, but everyone just gave up on the idea.

They just flat-out ignore you—it’s like, "If you don't like it, go talk to the principal."

Aha, okay! Honestly, I don't even remember all the doctors' names anymore—I’ve been calling around everywhere... All I can really do is pull up that old file where I kept track of the patient count.
Medicare told me that any doctors with fewer than 2,125 patients on their roster have to start taking on new people—basically, they're being forced to expand their practice.

Can anyone tell me where exactly in Chicago I can get my paperwork verified to switch to a new doctor? I have a feeling not every location listed on the website actually handles this...

Thanks 😁

Hey there—so I finally picked out a family doctor. They told me to take this form they filled out at the clinic over to Medicare, drop it in the box labeled "physician selection," and they’d handle the rest once it hits their system... which is exactly what I did. Do I need to actually wait for a response from Medicare, or does everything just process automatically on their end?

Greetings, I have a bit of a question regarding medical logistics. Suppose I give birth somewhere other than my permanent residence—let's say my home base is Chicago, but the baby is actually born in Indianapolis, where we'll be staying for about six months. If I go ahead and register a pediatrician there in Indianapolis, would I be able to switch back to a pediatrician in Chicago within that first year? Also, regarding the mountain of paperwork involved, would I need to file anything officially, such as updating my residency status in a different city, or can I just let things be?

I just moved to Queens, Chicago. I’ve been hitting up different clinics, and everywhere I go, they just tell me they’re full. It's ridiculous. I have no clue how to actually find a doctor who will take on new patients. Is there some kind of master list of doctors who aren't already completely maxed out?

Medicare director from the Klovićev office here. There’s a list out there—not sure how to drop the link properly without going through the nurse part first—but it shows the exact patient counts and exactly who is currently accepting new people.
