I’ve been thinking the same thing... after sitting through that ridiculous Freddy vs. Jason nonsense, I’m actually craving a real, proper Freddy Krueger horror flick.🙂

The first part is fine, but what really gets me is how unsettling it is at the start when Josh has absolutely no clue what he’s getting himself into. And then, out of nowhere, you get that line: "FREDDY'S HERE!!!! AND HE IS SOOOO SCARY!!!!!!"

So, I finally sat down and watched it, and honestly? It was great. I can't even remember if I've seen it before, but I've been in this massive horror kick lately—especially that whole 80s vibe—so I definitely added this one to my watchlist... now I just gotta hunt down the sequels 🙂

Well, I’m actually the one who started this thread 🙂 about 4 years ago.

Yeah, yeah—there’s a remake in the works, and unfortunately, from what I’ve been hearing, it doesn't look good at all. Word on the street is they might go with a CGI Freddy because it's cheaper than building practical prosthetics. Doesn't that just kill the whole essence of Freddy? It makes him way less terrifying! But hey, that’s just another move by the producers and the studio showing they're ready to cut corners on a remake. We can probably just expect a mediocre movie at this point.

God, I really hope these rumors turn out to be false.

By the way, if you asked me? I wouldn't even touch a remake. I’d rather see a direct sequel, because honestly, there is still so much untapped horror left to explore in the streets of any typical American suburb.

I watched the first installment last night. Looking back at it now, seeing how far movies and special effects have come since the 80s and that whole B-movie era, the film looks pretty hilarious. But honestly, because of the sheer charisma it still holds—I mean, I was literally terrified out of my mind watching this as a kid—I find it incredibly charming. Even those low-budget practical effects have a certain magic to them. I mean, where else can you find a scene where someone gets their fingers cut off just so we can see green blood spraying everywhere? The movie is genuinely great.

In my view, the first installment stands as one of the premier horror films ever made. The second part is mediocre at best due to several nonsensical scenes. The third film is excellent, even if they began playing fast and loose with the logic there. The fourth is entertaining, while the fifth falls slightly short. The sixth is acceptable if viewed merely as mindless, juvenile fun (Freddy playing Nintendo 😂). The seventh is superb and restores the true horror atmosphere, whereas Freddy vs. Jason is nothing more than a decent slasher flick. To summarize, this series surpasses both Halloween and Friday the 13th; Freddy remains a far superior icon to Jason or Michael.😁

It was definitely one of those rare horror films that actually managed to terrify me... I mean, I was just a kid back then. I still vividly remember being about 10 or 11 years old in the early 90s, sitting there watching the very first real masterpiece when it hit theaters in a city like Chicago... and let me tell you, after that, I wasn't exactly sleeping soundly at night. As for the sequels? Well, honestly, they were all pretty terrible—just complete trash and total garbage. Though, I suppose I did end up seeing them all, even that one... what was it called? One of the general sequels. I think it was around 1995, back when they used to hand out those little glasses in the theaters to give it a sort of 3D effect, where one lens was red and the other was blue. Even that one wasn't half bad, I guess.

There is really only one true, genuine classic... and that is the original film.

Whoever plays Freddy will probably be running on a Pentium or an Athlon, at least in my estimation.😉

^I checked IMDb first, and honestly, every other movie news site is backing up the same story. I’d love to see Robert Englund step back into the role of Freddy, but hey, Billy Bob wouldn't be a bad choice either.
