I'm sitting here watching the trailer for Troy, and honestly? I’ve got a massive knot in my stomach about how this whole thing is going to turn out.

That's bad... just plain bad.

I don't mind Brad Pitt, but Orlando Bloom is just going to act all precious and dainty again like he always does

So, you’ve got all these people who have already seen early test screenings or whatever, and suddenly everyone on the internet is acting like this movie is some flawless masterpiece

And apparently, our guy Eric Ban gave an incredible performance

So, picture this: the absolute greatest Greek hero ever, standing right there outside the walls of Troy, looking totally smooth-shaven with this long, flowing blue hair??? 😁

Look, blonde hair was actually pretty common back then. You can't just assume people from ancient Greece are the exact same demographic we see in the Mediterranean today—there’s been a massive mix of different lineages over the centuries. 😉

As for the beard situation, I'm not so sure. 😁

I know it wasn't exactly a common look back in Rome, which is why Germanic men and women were such highly sought-after slaves specifically because of their hair color.

But honestly, I’m always pretty skeptical when it comes to those massive Hollywood epics and the "history" they try to pass off as fact anyway.

I’m not entirely sure, but ever since I saw Pitt in Snatch, he’s been a total icon in my eyes... and I honestly think he’d make an incredible Achilles 🙂

So, when is this thing actually hitting theaters?

A few days ago, I finally finished reading Dan Simmons' "Ilium". To be blunt, his take on the Trojan War is exactly the kind of thing I’d love to see adapted for the big screen. 😈

Right after that, I’d love to see Homer's "Iliad" brought to life; honestly, it feels like pure material for a massive Hollywood spectacle. The only issue is that modern PC activists would probably have a collective meltdown if anyone actually tried to depict that epic on screen without sanitizing it first.

On the other hand, if this ends up being marketed as a "historical" version of the Trojan War, I’d really appreciate hearing which "historical" sources they actually pulled their plot points from. As far as I know, the "Iliad" is the only one, but let's face it—it leans much more toward fantasy than a standard historical novel. 😁

I only caught one scene—the one where hundreds of ships are sailing across the ocean... it looked quite impressive, I suppose.👍

To be honest, Achilles was acting quite feminine. When Odysseus went to find him to join the war, he was hiding among a group of women. Once the horn sounded signaling the start of battle, those women scattered, and Achilles finally grabbed his sword.

So, does anyone actually know if the whole thing between Achilles and Patroclus is supposed to be homoerotic or just a really deep friendship? Honestly, even back in ancient Greece after Homer's time, people couldn't seem to agree on it one way or the other.

What’s the word on these? What have you guys been hearing lately?
From what I’ve gathered, this one is shaping up to be massive... (some people are even claiming it might top Lord of the Rings, which is a pretty wild take)...
And honestly, the cast isn't exactly a bunch of unknowns either, so they actually know how to act.😁

On a side note, a question for the experts: what specific historical sources are actually being used to reconstruct the Trojan War? This goes for Hollywood claiming a movie is "historical," as well as those already complaining that "Troy" will be "historically inaccurate." Hmm?

I don't really see the issue here. After all, Achilles was essentially an immortal, Superman-style demigod who had gods constantly hovering over his head, raining down curses and lightning bolts on his enemies—just like they did for all the other Greek and Trojan heroes. Once you consider that, whether his hair color is historically accurate becomes a completely negligible detail.

Let's just say that in their downtime, the Greeks loved nothing more than jumping around like they were possessed by pure, unbridled energy.
