I mean, it feels a little weird that you’re suddenly having some kind of reaction after two whole years... I guess if it were something seriously dangerous, you probably would have dealt with it way sooner than this... but still, maybe you should just give that tattoo shop where you got it done a call, or honestly, just swing by there in person, if only so you don't spend the rest of the day shaking from pure nerves... 😁 Good luck!

Yeah, I’ve got a butterfly tattoo on my back and parts of it swell up constantly,
one minute it's flat, the next some other spot is bulging. Plus, I have this ink on my leg that feels completely "sunken" into the skin,
like you can't even feel the texture at all.
Honestly, maybe it's nothing to lose sleep over, especially since this started showing up two years later...
but if you want peace of mind, just give the shop a call.

Same here. Mine flared up after a year of using some body lotion I’d never tried before. Like I mentioned in that other thread, a little bit of hydrocortisone cream cleared the swelling right up, and everything is fine now.

So, basically... I got a new tattoo about five days ago. Everything was going smooth until two days back. Now, this super itchy rash is starting to pop up on one part of the ink. Honestly, as soon as I feel that itch, I already know another little bump is gonna show up soon. :/ It’s weird. The tattoo covers most of my forearm—it's a five-letter piece—but the rash is only hitting the first letter near my elbow. It's spreading, but strictly within that one letter, though I am seeing one or two tiny spots on the next letter over. It looks like a bunch of little pimples. I can't tell if there's any pus since the ink is in the way, but I'm thinking it's just a standard rash. I actually ran out to the drugstore today and grabbed some baby Vaseline because I read online that maybe Aquaphor was causing issues, but I doubt a change in ointment is gonna fix this. Has anyone dealt with something like this? How did you get rid of it? Thanks in advance... this is kind of urgent, I really don't want it to wreck the tattoo.. thanks..🙂

Look, kid, a tattoo isn't some little joke where you just play around testing random lotions and creams to see what sticks via trial and error... it’s serious.🙂
Why don't you just head over to the artist who actually did the work and ask them? Or better yet, check in with your primary care physician. They can take a look and probably recommend something much stronger and specifically designed for this kind of thing.

A rash can sometimes be a sign that a tattoo is starting to get infected, so I’d definitely recommend checking in with your doctor just to be safe. 😁

I honestly don't even know... I mean, it’s not covering the whole tattoo, just a little bit near the top. If it were some kind of widespread rash, wouldn't it be all over the place? Right?? My tattoo is about 12 inches long, but there's only this tiny 2-inch patch where I've got these... how do I put this... little bumps.

Just go see a doctor, please... 🙂... otherwise you're just going to end up wrecking your skin and ruining that tattoo. There's really no point in sitting around waiting for it to spread any further...

The doctor is there to help, after all. They won't be offended if you actually show up for an appointment!😁

Are you still keeping the plastic wrap on it? If the skin can't breathe and you apply a layer of Aquaphor that's even slightly too thick, you could end up with a rash. That can get itchy and look pretty bad, not to mention it might actually mess with the tattoo itself.

So I went to see the doctor. He was basically like, "It's not red, so it's fine, just let it heal," but it's still there. Just these tiny little dots... nothing crazy, though.
And about the wrap thing... nah, I haven't been using it. My artist told me not to bother unless it's an absolute emergency—like if I have to go somewhere dusty or something. Otherwise, skip it. I haven't really used it much anyway; maybe just for a couple of hours the first day. Honestly, I think it might be the ointment. You were right, it's itching and I've definitely got that rash. Here's the deal: I apply enough so the tattoo looks shiny and doesn't get those weird white patches from the cream. I spread it out as much as I can. Is that overkill or what??🙂

I was wondering if there’s any real risk involved in getting a tattoo if I already have quite a few moles scattered across my body. Is there a possibility that tattooing an area where I don't currently have a mole could somehow trigger a new one to grow or cause other issues?

I honestly don't think it matters. Once that tattoo fully heals up, it shouldn't be an issue. Like, whether a mole shows up later or not—that’s just life. If one pops up, it pops up, and if the ink is dark enough, you probably wouldn't even notice it anyway. But, if you're already seeing something suspicious growing right now? Then yeah, maybe skip the needle altogether. It's better to play it safe. Just my two cents, though.☕

Honestly... I'm in the exact same boat as you. I got a tattoo about a week ago, and then two days ago, this rash just popped up. I'm guessing it's from the plastic wrap they used...
The rash isn't spreading and it doesn't really itch. The skin is just red right where the film was sitting... so now I'm just leaving it open to the air! ??
I'm kind of freaking out that it might be something serious, but my tattoo shop is closed until Monday. If this doesn't clear up by then, I'm going to lose my mind! 😢

I don't care what kind of legal disclaimers tattoo parlors are plastering all over their websites; I just don't see the connection between anemia and getting inked. Hemophilia? Sure, that makes sense. But honestly, I’d love to hear a medical expert explain how having anemia could possibly interfere with someone getting a little butterfly tattoo on their wrist.

I personally don't see any connection between those two things, yet I keep reading that many tattoo artists refuse to work with people living with anemia. When I brought this up with my doctor, she admitted she wasn't sure and suggested I consult someone who actually lives with anemia and has experience getting tattooed. Since I don't know anyone in that situation, I was wondering if there might be some folks here who could share their own experiences?

I mean, this is actually my fifth tattoo, so I’ve been around the block a bit and nothing ever really went like this... after the session, it bled quite a lot, and when I finally went to bed, I guess I wasn't exactly being careful enough with it
