so, I guess this was just a lesson in false modesty

Never quite enough 😁

honestly, I wouldn't count on those empty promises from blueranger12... there's already one showdown they managed to skip out on...

I put my "weapon" on the table... we'll see where things go from here... 😁

Jessica Nguyen85, look—you just don't get the genius behind blueranger12's stream of consciousness, which is why you aren't vibing with it. There, I said it!

I mean, the guy is from Canada, after all!! 😁 😁

he’s actually from Canada, after all!!

I can't help but feel like blueranger12 just found a "replacement" for the ice floe 😁

The last showdown used the exact same weapons 😁 It feels like they love scheduling these things, yet nothing actually happens. You’d think there was some kind of pattern 🤔

That genius stream of consciousness half the people on this thread felt...

Look at how I called out Jose Miller17 over a year ago in this thread, when he claimed if you don't love LIT, you don't know how to watch movies 😁 😁
Haha 😁 God, I love being patronized with one-word answers 😁 And using italics too? Jose Miller17, you can't do that..

I honestly think the split opinion on this movie isn't about whether people know how to watch films or not. It’s just about character. I’ve seen plenty of usernames in this thread whose opinions I respect even though they hated the movie. And I think the movie is great. How else am I supposed to explain that? I'm not going to say someone doesn't know how to WATCH a film.

And then a year later, I write that the drunkard doesn't know how to watch movies 😵

Then someone comes along and says you can't argue about taste. That's what The Roman said.

Also, this is interesting—does this count as philosophizing about aesthetics? Only the negative group talked about aesthetics here. The positive group just went, "aw, so cute 😍 😍". I couldn't even bring what I love about this movie up to an aesthetic level. It's more spiritual. Like self-help books.

I find it much easier to process someone telling me what they loved than dealing with the weight of someone tearing something apart.

Regarding point A—don't let it get to you when your taste clashes with the masses. Just take a look at the top rentals at Blockbuster or any of those massive Hollywood summer blockbusters. Honestly, if you truly used popularity as your primary yardstick for quality, you’d probably be jumping off a bridge right about now!

b) That second part sounds a bit like a textbook case of an inferiority complex. 😵
Look at how Jessica Nguyen85 refuses to back down! Just stay the course! 🎉

Alright, fine. I was being dramatic and talking a big game.😉

But seriously, I can't stop overanalyzing everything. Sometimes it feels like a total inferiority complex. Maybe it actually is. :preispit: :preispit:

Quite the profound stream of consciousness there—half the people on this thread felt the impact.

Took you a whole year to get your head on straight? Or maybe you're just the last one to realize who's actually playing the game.🙂...

...if by "aesthetic" you mean visuals then you're wrong...(one-liner italicized, vol 2 😁😁 )

"The Virgin Suicides" by Coppola.

"Teknolust," starring Tilda Swinton... honestly, it’s pretty sexy and kinky.

And yeah... looks like I'm just revisiting all the old classics...

Can I ask a quick question about this movie?
Am I allowed? Thanks.

Does anyone know what Murray whispered to the girl during their goodbye?

I didn't quite catch it, and I’d love some clarification.
Thanks.😁

Musat said:There's zero atmosphere in this movie. Total waste of money. Honestly, you'd get the same effect if you just framed some stills and put them in a gallery. It mostly just appealed to people who were too eager to please—people trying to project their own weird cinematic visions onto those dull, muted lights of Japan.

I find conversations between two old ladies on the bus at 8 AM way more engaging than anything involving Bill and Scarlet....🙄

And if this movie is your idea of a masterpiece, then you clearly have no taste in life... 😉

So, when are we actually going to the theater to see the next James Bond?

That explains why she started tearing up the moment he let her go.

For anyone wondering what Murray actually said at the very end of the movie (shout out to modern technology for making this possible):

Personally, I think it would have been better if we never found out what he whispered.🤷

I’m basically reposting this because I said it once and I'll say it again: this movie is just incredible. It’s such a simple look at the warmth between two people from totally different generations who somehow find common ground... both dealing with their own messes, lost in an uncertain world, deciding to tackle their self-inflicted chaos together...

Honestly, it’s been a long time since a movie like this actually hit me this hard (the last one was Glory Forever Unconquered), but this little masterpiece by Sofia Coppola is something else. It’s so simple yet so complex in how it handles human connection, turning a massive generational gap into actual hope...
