Persephone: "Neo, I am your mother."
Neo: "Whoa, dude."

To be fair, I slept through a significant portion of the movie, but I am fairly certain Neo never actually said "dude." 🙄

Did you sleep through this part too...

Solid movie. Definitely fixes the mess they made with Reloaded. They leaned a bit too hard into that sappy "Neo, we love you and believe in you" vibe—and honestly, that final showdown between Smith and Neo could've been shorter—but at least it ended in a way you didn't see coming.

For example,

First, Smith beats the hell out of Neo. Neo gets up and another round starts. Smith beats the hell out of Neo again. Neo gets back up... and so on. At a certain point, I’m sitting there wondering, where's that moment where Neo just spits blood on the floor, stands his ground, and finally takes Smith down? But nope! Even after all that flying around, Neo doesn't land a single good hit on Smith—he just keeps taking a beating until Smith eventually dies because he tried to assimilate him.

The lesson here:
THEY COULD HAVE SKIPPED THE ENTIRE FIGHT IF NEO HAD JUST LET THEM ASSIMILATE HIM AT THE VERY START...

Cypher made his return in the sequel 😲 and I definitely slept through that bit. 😢

Also, who is that little kid in Zion who keeps saying "Neo. I believe"? I honestly thought it was Mouse from the first movie—I had completely forgotten he was killed off.

Who's that kid in Zion constantly chanting "Neo. I believe."? I thought he was Mouse from the first movie—completely forgot he died.

That kid is gay. It’s a unanimous verdict among Matrix fans across the States.

rapidstag74, don't go confusing everyone! You're going to end up getting banned, I swear! Trust me on this one, I can see it coming from a mile away!

I honestly thought the Oracle had undergone some kind of fundamental shift for a reason, but then that actress passed away in the scene 😢What a total sham

But have you guys caught this detail:

The park bench that the Oracle sits on at the end of the movie has a plaque that reads: "In memory of Thomas Anderson".

There’s clearly some deeper subtext buried within The Matrix—it’s just one that continues to elude me.

Since I already made my choice. 😁

But this thing about the kid from Zion? It's true. Not that he actually is gay, just that a huge chunk of the fanbase thinks he is.

nimblemarlin17 said:That’s exactly why they threw in that ridiculous plot twist I’m still trying to wrap my head around. I mean, how did Neo actually take down Smith? Honestly, the Matrix will probably just keep existing until Kiefer Sutherland signs on for more sequels, because let's face it—he's the only one who can actually beat him.

SPOILER ALERT!!
When Smith assimilated the Oracle, he thought he could see the future since he basically absorbed her "powers," envisioning a world where he finally wins by absorbing Neo (which explains that classic, over-the-top villainous laugh he does). But man, was he wrong! The Oracle totally played him, just like she played Neo in the first two movies. Smith followed everything she laid out as "prophecy" perfectly, including assimilating Neo, which turned out to be a massive setup. It turns out Neo was essentially hardwired directly into the Source—so when Smith tried to merge with him, the Source just stripped Smith's code away and wiped him out along with all those clones (and yeah, Neo too). What a wild ride!

Honestly, if the Wachowskis had just focused on their own business instead of all this nonsense, maybe we wouldn't be here. Absolute disasters. I swear, they let the money go straight to their heads. 😠
They could have simply left us with the first—and frankly, the only—Matrix movie and then moved on to making something actually entertaining, like "Neo's Revenge," "The Return of Baby-battery," or even "Trinity's Wildest Dreams."
Ugh, would it have killed them to hire someone like Roger Corman to produce their next project? Instead, we get these absolute megalomaniacs. Two Oscar nominations? Yeah, right. My foot.

P.S. I should probably wait at least 24 hours after watching a movie before trying to be rational about it. 😁 😁

I don't get why Neo was the only one among all those Smith clones to actually die.
Was it because he was hardwired directly into the Source?

Honestly, the Oracle was what drove me crazy during the movie. The woman just can't seem to give a straight answer to anyone.

But honestly, what people are saying about Zion's little guy is actually pretty spot on—not necessarily that he's gay, but just that a huge chunk of the fanbase is convinced he is.

I mean, Neo and him basically met in a gay chat room if you go back and watch Animatrix. 😁

And you watched a movie just to nitpick names. Look at the rest: Morpheus, Neo, Trinity, Smith, Niobe, Persephone, Merovingian, Twin 1, Twin 2... I bet some fanboys dug through mythology textbooks just to make sense of them.

Well, Larry Ellison was the one who programmed it. 😁

Which basically means it's like having a prophet or a seer on your side.

Betty Bennett10 said:So he happens to be gay, sure, but who actually IS this guy?

He’s basically the kid from that "Kid's Story" short in *The Animatrix*, you know, the one who ends up getting deleted from the Matrix because he put all his faith in the One.

That’s exactly my point; why on earth would a viewer watching The Matrix Revolutions be expected to know all that? You have these obscure characters just drifting in and out of the narrative, which, if I recall correctly, flies in the face of basically every established rule of filmmaking.

Betty Bennett10 said:Look, why would a viewer of The Matrix III be expected to know that? You've got random characters popping in and out of the frame—it flies in the face of every standard cinematic rule there is.

But let's be real, The Matrix was a revolution. A genuine one.

That DVD has been sitting on rental shelves for ages.
