So, I finally caught the movie yesterday (there were absolutely no tickets left last Sunday... I had to beg them!)
The film is just pure Darkness
My goodness, I honestly couldn't stop thinking about the dialogue, the soundtrack, those Samurai swords, and everything else... it stayed on my mind all night and through the whole day...
Then I even had a dream where I was actually fighting O-ren Ishii
Yeah... seriously... the movie is sheer genius, definitely one of those future classics...
It really has it all... it's hilarious, violent, cool, and everything in between
I had such a blast
Though... I have to say, the first part doesn't quite click for me as a complete story... I'm just crossing my fingers that the second part is as incredibly dark as this one was... Ugh... my head is spinning...

Someone was watching the movie, and I guess it’ll eventually make its way here to the States too...

So, I finally sat down and watched the movie yesterday.

And honestly? I am totally blown away.

In my opinion, Quentin Tarantino has actually managed to outdo himself this time around.

I really feel like he’s just set a whole new benchmark for what an action flick can be.

It makes me think we're about to see a massive wave of movies featuring katana fights—you know, tons of stuff centered around Samurai culture and the Yakuza.

But the way he executed it is what really sticks with me. Like, yeah, there is blood up to your eyeballs, but you never lose that sense that you're watching a piece of cinema.
That’s why all that noise about movies being "too violent" just doesn't hold water for me.
That opening fight scene was just so gripping and unlike anything I've seen before; it seriously had my heart racing.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling now. This one is a Must watch.

Ugh... honestly, that very first fight scene is just the absolute best. 😁
It was pure genius. (And hey, I couldn't help noticing the woman in that first fight is wearing the exact same tracksuit top as me! 😁)
Oh, and you know... I actually worried for a second that the movie would be so violent it might make me sick, but it ended up being so cool instead. There’s definitely some blood and violence, but it's handled perfectly, just like how the
says: at any given moment, you're totally aware you're watching a movie, so it never feels overwhelming...

Is this a tilt? I always assumed throwing a katana into a movie was as natural as breathing. Honestly, if you have any film or series featuring cold weapon combat in a modern setting, there practically *has* to be at least one katana involved, right? Because let’s face it, they’re just objectively cool.

Then again, perhaps I just spend far too much time watching Japanese animation and Hong Kong martial arts flicks...😁

We can totally expect some big production centered around a famous Samurai soon.
It's this whole shift from the Hong Kong and Kung Fu vibe toward Japan, Kenda, and the Samurai aesthetic.

And both styles are just so visually stunning. You know what I mean?🙂

From what I gather, they're really pushing Last Samurai hard lately... and he's playing this little kid role (even though it's supposedly some heavy Oscar contender)
If Hollywood tries to spark a revival based on that, it’s going to be total garbage... there's just no way they can compete with the classics like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Look, there are really only two things I can say in response to that:

If I actually had the ability to borrow movies from the eccentrics at the local video rental shop, I certainly would.

Even if Hollywood films turn out to be mediocre, they only need to be just good enough to satisfy my craving for entertainment—which, if I'm being honest, is a pretty low bar.

I've said my piece: when it comes to anime, he is exactly the guy you're looking for. He managed to get his hands on the series, the films, and even all the soundtracks for me.

The Hobbit beats out that guy from Hong Kong who thinks he knows everything about Kung Fu, Japan, Kenda, or being a Samurai.

I mean, yeah. There’s definitely something to that. Americans are slowly starting to shift their focus. We might end up watching more and more Hollywood movies centered around Japanese themes over the next decade. But once they’ve completely exhausted that well, I guess the US will just pivot again and move onto... well, you know.🤔I mean, it goes without saying. 😁

Maybe in thirty years or so, we’ll finally get to see a movie about settling the Wild West, or a film about the Battle of Little Bighorn, or even a remake of High Noon. But honestly, I guess it won't happen anytime soon because everyone is too obsessed with being "politically correct." 🙄 I guess if you look at it from the perspective of Native Americans... it still probably won't stop them from casting Leonardo DiCaprio as some kind of tribal chief.

Anyway, getting back to the main topic... what's the deal with that movie? Has it even hit theaters yet, or what? I guess I haven't really been keeping up with what's playing in theaters lately. 😕
