It’s like once you start sharing, there’s just no stopping. It never ends!

If I remember right, the big boss really threw a fit when they tried to label psychology as just a branch of philosophy. Or was it the other way around?

It’s the same deal with astrology and all that stuff—it's everywhere, yet it somehow doesn't count for anything in this corner of the internet.

Maybe we could do Philosophy and psychology... but make psychology its own subforum? Kind of like how Spirituality sits under Religion?

I don't know. You guys be the judge!😉

In my view, it isn't about who's qualified,
it's about the people themselves...
to learn something new...
and if not that, then just to talk through things... to discuss their own inner struggles and emotions...
One of the main perks of seeing a psychiatrist is the conversation itself...
the chance to face things they'd never wrap their heads around just by sitting alone with their own thoughts...

~ ~ ~
The root cause of the energetic disturbances that trigger various physical ailments is often negative thoughts and emotions held within the physical body. It isn't the negative emotions themselves that cause issues; rather, it's our resistance to feeling them and our failure to release that energy constructively that creates the problem.
When these negative emotions, limiting beliefs, and traumatic memories are gripped tightly by the body over time, they create blockages and energetic disturbances that manifest as physical health problems.

Hehehe..
Why don't you like Oprah so much?
No, you're wrong about what you said regarding Oprah...
The Oprah show is one of the few where problems are actually discussed decently, without all the melodrama. You can really feel an honest tone coming from both the guest and the host...

Back in '98, Oprah started this psychological segment with John Gray and a spiritual one with Gary Zukav --- but unfortunately, the audience just didn't buy it. So, you're wrong to claim Oprah is pretending to use any kind of quasi-psychological methods... That was just too demanding for the spoiled, shallow (both physically and mentally) audience here in America...

Look, this is a forum... it covers all sorts of topics...
Why not talk about mental health and psychology issues in the Health subforum, for instance?

Arthur Martinez7 said:That discussions like that should be held using those exact quasi-psychological methods, like on the Oprah show...

The mere fact that Bradley Fisher20 and Meta12 jumped on those topics says enough.

Hehhe.. why did you get into a spat with Bradley Fisher20?
I think Bradley Fisher20 is a perfectly fine guy... just like you..
As for Meta12, I've never met them, but they're probably like Bradley Fisher20...
I don't see why you're bickering with each other,,, neither of you strikes me as being high-strung or holding any extreme views...
Did you guys get into an argument over something on some other topic?

Let’s cut the fluff and get straight to the point. Give me your honest thoughts!

ARE YOU IN FAVOR OF A PSYCHOLOGY SUBFORUM?

You don't even really need to comment; you can probably figure out the benefit of having a dedicated space for psychology just by using those precious gray cells of yours..
😁 🙂

Isn't psychology a science? Why shouldn't it be handled under the Science subforum?
That would be like asking for a specific math or biology subforum.

If we're talking about self-help, general venting, or life advice, then sure, that belongs in US, ZK, Miscellaneous, or Kids, depending on what the topic actually covers.

As far as I'm concerned, philosophy is its own science, so it deserves its own dedicated forum.

Let the people decide😁 whether they actually need a sub-forum for psychology or not. The boss, Anderlon, gave us a quick, decisive response—which is exactly what we expect here😉—so now the ball is in your court...

If there’s a genuine hunger for a forum like this, why on earth not? If there isn't, then fine, nothing happens. It’s as simple as that.

Bradley Fisher20, are you some kind of politician now? Stop flipping your stance constantly; you were all for this at the start, and now suddenly you aren't...😁🙂

I see some topics have already been suggested, and honestly, there are plenty of them to go around..

for example..

Behavioral patterns

Physical illness as a manifestation of psychological factors?

A psychological approach to absolute belief systems versus relative ones (why people choose one over the other)..

Beliefs and attitudes

Dreams

Phrenology and physiognomy

Sex and the psyche

Impotence

Frigidity

Exhibitionism

"Male" and "female" roles

Communication

Mental hygiene

etc., etc..

Sure, he definitely dealt with some vulgar behavior and acted like a total jerk at first..
but they rewired his behavioral matrix and he turned things around..
Man, if only it were that easy to fix people... hehehe.
😉
But you aren't like that..
Why are you immediately playing the victim here? Got some issues you need to work through, huh?

After all, like Woody Allen said in "Zelig"
one day we’re all going to end up as either great doctors or great patients..

Did you two clash over something on a different thread or what?

How could anyone even get into a fight with Arthur Martinez7? Just try it, you'll see it's impossible 🙂.

😁. Look, there's one thing that's really bugging me. It's this whole mess of dissecting topics that should honestly fall under psychology. Because this subforum is just this weird overlap of spirituality, science, philosophy, health, lonely hearts, and whatever else...

And where does that even leave this forum? Honestly, we actually need space for the entire spectrum of stuff involving society and the individual. Basically, I don't get the concept of this forum at all. All I know for sure is that something is definitely MISSING.

Bradley Fisher20 said:😁. To be honest, there is one thing weighing on my mind. It is this constant overlapping of topics that should fall under the umbrella of psychology. This particular subforum seems to sit at a crossroads where spirituality, science, philosophy, health, and even matters of the heart all collide.

And where would such a forum truly belong? Honestly, it feels like we are missing a dedicated space for the entire spectrum of subjects connecting the individual to society. For the most part, I find the core concept of this specific forum a bit elusive. All I can tell is that something is definitely MISSING.

Oh, you hit the nail on the head there. You are certainly feeling that something is MISSING. 😁

..well, since I'm already hanging out here on the psych board

..yeah, honestly, we should just open up a dedicated psychology section somewhere within the science category..or wherever else fits..I really think it would be a fantastic move to give it a shot..though, if I'm being totally real, I haven't quite figured out the logistics of how to organize it or handle the moderation duties..and sometimes, I get the feeling this whole forum leans a bit too heavily into that "psycho" vibe🙂

..as long as it doesn't cause any headaches, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't just launch a new sub-forum...we can always shut it down later if it doesn't work out, right?

Alright, look. Since we’re diving into a massive range of topics that don't even strictly fall under psychology (even if they touch on it), I feel like the current title is way too narrow for a forum like this.

It might actually make more sense to go with something like

Humanity and Society.

Something along those lines. John Walker74, what's your take?

..and maybe we should open up a section for... nature and society...

..sorry Bradley Fisher20 if that came off sounding sarcastic instead of just being ironic... 🙂

...so, let me skip over a few lines of thought here, because it really feels like everyone is dodging the idea of opening a psychology subforum... I honestly don't get why... maybe it's because of the potential responsibility involved, or maybe people are afraid someone will start demanding a psychiatry subforum next? haha...

...and who knows, we could even dive into genetics... anthropology, sociobiology... neo-rascisim...

..that’s why I think it’s best to just lump everything under "Science," where hypotheses, theses, and antitheses can be laid out clearly using the laws of dialectics—you know, actually arguing and debating through real thinking exercises! Every single step outside of that rigid structure gets immediately slammed as "unorganized knowledge" or "disrespectful to the rules," and then you always have some guy stepping in to explain how things *really* work, acting like he’s the only competent one in the room while everyone else is clueless... because, apparently, science only works if we stick to this hyper-rationalized way of proving things... and any doubt that isn't presented in a perfect, textbook model is treated like it's not even worth questioning or thinking about.

..it's actually kind of dangerous to let certain ideas develop among the masses... the elites tend to gatekeep discussions just so the common folk don't jump in and mess things up or misinterpret them...

..isn't that just how it is?.. Aren't forums supposed to exist so people can express alternative, unofficial opinions? Even if someone isn't quite capable of meeting some arbitrary, socially accepted standard for how they present their ideas?

..I see this forum—and not just this one—as a place where you can actually let your personality shine without having to debate through these half-hidden, overly academic, elitist scientific publications all the time.

..It would actually be pretty cool to once in a while discuss why online spaces are even called "forums" to begin with... why not call it an Agora, or a town square, or Tiananmen?... What are the connotations and definitions behind the word, the logos, the idea... the forum itself?

...so, I really don't see any reason (aside from a few 🙂) why we couldn't just open a psychology subforum, especially since we have so many fresh, creative pieces here on philosophy and science that aren't just displays of ego and libido in the style of... "I know this and you don't," or "I'm right and you're wrong," or "I'm capable and you're a wimp"... or "I have information you don't have, so I get to dominate the conversation because, hey, the world is just lions and sheep."

...there are so many topics... sorry, so many questions... including stuff about psychology that actually interests me! Am I supposed to go look for repeats in existing psych threads? Or go get mental hygiene treatment? Or formally study it? Can't I just exchange my own questions, doubts, and insights without it having to be about US, or Les, or deterministic chaos... or Plato's Allegory of the Cave... and why shouldn't that topic fall under health?

..I'm interested in everything... from mice (whose fault is it when they get lost in a maze?) to statistics to the absolute fringes of knowledge...
..Why hide all this under other subforums?.. Is it so some arrogant, condescending kid doesn't officially drive someone to suicide? I feel like the whole concept of psychology is being mystified... meanwhile, we're all out here proudly defending ideas we just memorized from philosophy or linguistics textbooks... we act surprised by mathematical paradoxes or the Vatican's stance on the singularity (with all our right!), so why can't we demystify fear, uncertainty, addiction, and human behavior? Isn't that just as worthy of wonder?

..I'll say it again... how do you even moderate or guide a subforum like that? Who has the strength, the willpower, and the tact to pull it off? Now, *that* might be a problem... (not to say that a psychological supervisor wouldn't be more than welcome on the forum here and there 😁 )

ps

Bradley Fisher20, nothing personal 🙂. Your post was just a springboard for me. Not just for this topic, but obviously for my own situation... psychologically speaking... 😁
