Look, if you thought the movie was total garbage, you don't have to come in here and start spitting on it like this...

GET YR OWN TOPIC.... 😁

Oops, my bad! I didn't realize the thread title was actually "Training Day - positive review." Won't happen again, I promise.

I wish I could remember enough specific details about the flick to really tear it apart properly. Honestly, if I had to sit through it a second time, I don't think I'd make it.

Jessica King95 said:My apologies, I completely missed that this thread was titled "Training Day - positive review." I'll be more careful next time, I swear.

It’s a shame I can't recall enough specific details about the movie to tear it apart properly. And honestly, if I were to sit down and watch it again right now, I don't think I could stomach it.

Did you actually watch the movie, or were you just chatting on your phone during the screening?

I was definitely on my phone, honestly. There’s nothing worse than finishing a movie and realizing all you have left is a vague, fuzzy memory of having watched it—and usually, that impression is pretty negative. In this case, I walked away feeling like it was just a messy mashup of Colors (Dennis Hopper) and Bad Lieutenant (Abel Ferrara).

It’s a fantastic film—and man, Denzel Washington absolutely crushes it; seriously, props to him... Hawke is a little weaker here, though he doesn't fall too far behind... the ending might feel a bit cliché in some ways, but since all the other scenes are so tightly constructed, it doesn't ruin the overall impact at all...

WATCH IT!

Or just don't watch it.

The real question is...

I find myself agreeing with the guy with the gold nose ring...

What really drives me crazy is how almost every movie screening starts after 6:00 PM. That’s exactly when the matinee pricing ends and people start trying to squeeze in a quick call or text. And let's be honest, trying to type out a message in a pitch-black theater is a nightmare. By the time you actually finish sending a single text and get a reply, half the movie has already passed you by.😠

Saw the bio on HBO yesterday. Caught bits and pieces of it. The movie is flawlessly crafted.

It’s like a mashup of Colors (Dennis Hopper) and Bad Lieutenant (Abel Ferrara).

It also feels a bit like Violent Cop (Takeshi Kitano). That said, I didn't hate it—it's a solid production and the acting is top-notch.

Training Day - positive review is an absolute masterpiece.

I suppose I was watching it in the perfect setting for such a film.

Just a bunch of guys from the neighborhood—mostly dealers, plenty of smokers, and just a whole lot of chaos in the streets.

Man, we were all just completely sucked into that movie.

Denzel Washington is a total king playing Alonzo, and Hawke is honestly so convincing as that clueless rookie.

"Smoke giving shit."

"Nah, man, I smoked on the college few times, but I don't do that kind of stuff anymore."

"A good narcotics cop must know and LOVE drugs. To know and love drugs, you have to smoke it."

"Nah man..."

*brake*

*click*

*gun to the temple*

"Smoke. Your wife would get a flag on the street for that."

Donnie said:I just finished watching it, and honestly, it was a pleasant surprise. Look, I’m no film critic or anything, but the plot felt surprisingly fresh to me—and we don't even need to go into detail about Denzel Washington's performance because, well, he's Denzel.

My only gripe? I really wish they hadn't cast that poor guy to play the rookie; he just didn't have the presence for it. They needed someone a bit more convincing there.

It feels like people have been talking about this movie here for ages, though I must have missed it on the previous lists, so here I am.

Yeah, it's a fantastic film... Definitely one of those gems you keep in your permanent collection! 😎

Man, I just finished watching this and it was freaking amazing!

I mean, hats off to Denzel Washington, his performance was incredible, but we can't overlook Ethan either—he was seriously, SERIOUSLY good!

The story is great (the script 👍), but that ending? Total WTF moment (it was definitely unexpected), kind of like how someone already mentioned, "every single detail just clicks into place" (or something like that).

All in all, I think I actually got more out of it than I expected.

What an incredible movie!!!
I can't quite put my finger on it—maybe it's Denzel Washington's performance, the setting, the plot itself, or just the soundtrack...🙏

Honestly, because of Ethan's acting,😍 it was pretty dull for me. If only they'd made more like this...

Alonzo is such a badass... but man, that ending was a total train wreck. Honestly? After everything we watched him pull off, it would have made way more sense if Alonzo just put a bullet in that rookie's head right after he finished beating him senseless. Then he could've just taken the cash, dropped it off where it needed to go, and called it a day. Instead, we get this ridiculous Hollywood bullshit ending.👎Up until that final scene, the movie is incredible, then they just blow it for no reason.

I'm going to have to disagree there. I actually think the ending is spot on because it feels grounded in reality. That’s exactly why the movie works. If Alonzo had walked away unscathed, it would’ve lost all its edge and just turned into another cliché action flick.
