You're totally right—it's not on the soundtrack and I completely botched the scene description 😢 but everything else I said was spot on 😉. The moment that song "appears" is actually when she's doing karaoke one night. Well, I guess I managed to dodge a bullet there! 😁

Susan Wright12, your song is basically what Cameron Diaz sings during that scene in My Best Friend's Wedding when Julia Roberts calls her out. C.D. sounds absolutely terrible, but she still manages to pull an ovation from the crowd just for having the guts to do it. Like darktinker47 said, the track is Can't Live Without You.

Ugh, man... look, I honestly think both answers are right, but I was actually thinking of a totally different movie, you know, the one where they used an older version of that song. Not like, the absolute original, but the specific version that actually turned the track into a massive hit.
So, what’s the move here? Should we just bite the bullet and accept these alternative answers?

As far as I'm concerned, Susan Wright12, just wait for whatever answer you've already cooked up in your head. Honestly, I wouldn't even know how to frame an assignment if it were my turn, especially given the rules Michelle Alvarez8 laid out.

🙂 Riding to Amarillo. Dean Martin, a total legend—I think he was singing with... Ricky Nelson?? Something like that... And that scene, man... I can see it perfectly in my head, Dean looking all disheveled, hat pulled low over his eyes, sitting in that jail cell (was he?), while the old timer plays the harmonica... 👍
And the song is obviously "Riding to Amarillo" 😁

P. S. It honestly makes my day every single time I read that you haven't harmed a single animal just to make your points in these posts. 😁

Walter Brennan (Stumpy), a true legend among character actors in all those classic westerns and films (Rio Brava, Three Godfathers, Red River, My Darling Clementine, The Westerner, How the West Was Won, The Far Country, Bad Day at Black Rock, The Adventures of Taj Sawyer, To Have and Have Not, Meet John Doe...), actually snagged the very first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. It was totally expected and well-deserved. 👍

First off, I gotta say—you guys totally made my day with this game, seriously, thanks a ton!
As for the answer... I think it’s this: the song is "And Then a Kiss"—it’s a Sinatra classic, but in the movie, it isn't him singing, it's some woman whose name escapes me right now (and honestly, I'm not even going to Google it just to keep things interesting), the movie is Prime and the scene is right at the end SPOILER when he sees her again in the cafe after heading back to grab his hat—if I remember correctly—she spots him at the door, gives him a little smile, and that's it, they both just go their separate ways; she stays in the cafe with her group (if I can add one thing—to me, that's one of those rare, actually good endings in movies like this). Am I spot on, or am I totally off?

Well, bravo, bravo—you're practically missing the performer, but hey, I'll let it slide... Marshall & Tarantula. If I can just throw in one little fact about that scene that actually interests me—Selma was supposed to be undergoing hypnosis or some kind of psychotherapy because she’s deathly afraid of snakes. If that's the case, then seriously, props to her!
