Has anyone else checked out this cartoon? I thought it was pretty great. The visuals and the story were solid, and the way they handled the characters' emotional expressions was honestly impressive... if you ask me.🙂

Has anyone actually NOT watched Ice Age?

That movie is just a depressing reminder of what kind of cinematic wasteland we're living in when we're getting stuff on DivX a month before it even hits theaters.

But hey, what do you expect?

Anyway, there have already been a few threads about Ice Age. Not necessarily using that exact title, but mostly just through various comparisons.

All things considered, it's an okay movie. Pretty funny, mostly.

I watched it. It’s alright if you're into that kind of thing, I guess. That's about it. 🙂

Honestly, Sid the Sloth is basically my spirit animal—they practically stole my name at this point. 😳

Honestly, this movie is strictly for little kids... I don't know, I haven't heard anything good about it, and after going to see it in theaters, I actually felt bad about wasting my money on a ticket...

Oh, and that squirrel? Absolute legend!

The only decent character in the whole thing.👍

Oh, and that squirrel? Totally awesome!

The only decent character in the whole thing.👍

Could someone please name just one single American animated feature film—one that actually played in theaters worldwide—that isn't meant for children? I mean, think Disney, DreamWorks, 20th Century Fox, whatever.

Look, obviously they're for kids, just like almost every other one out there. But even so, American studios usually try to make them engaging enough so that the parents or older siblings tagging along don't pass out from pure boredom. Animation just doesn't have that same magic anymore where everyone is spellbound, like it was back when "Snow White" first came out.

Ice Age is a total classic👍
The only thing that really missed the mark for me was how they handled the human animation.

I mean, I have to agree. It kind of bothered me too—they looked like they crawled straight out of some low-budget video game like "Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter".

Anyway, did humans even exist back during the Ice Age?

Maybe the facial features bothered you? Not sure, so sorry if I'm talking nonsense here, but weren't Neanderthals roaming the Earth back then? If we recall Java from Marty Mystery, everything makes sense... 🙂

Anyway, I just watched it yesterday. Donald Duck is dead! Long live Sid the Sloth!!

I was cracking up. Especially the character names. Manfred the mammoth?! Diego the saber-toothed tiger?!?! Sid the Sloth?!?!?! 😁 😁 😁
Perfect entertainment for the day before heading back to work.

From what I remember back in school—or more accurately, from watching Marty Mystery—Neanderthals actually lived alongside Homo sapiens. There were multiple Ice Ages too; the last one happened, if my memory serves me right, a few tens of thousands of years ago, when humans were pretty much everywhere.
I’m not usually one for feature-length animation, but this one was actually decent. Plus, Višnjić sounds way better than anything you'd hear on ER.🙂

The movie is great, though I was honestly hoping for some sharper, more sophisticated wit—something along the lines of Shrek, you know, those jokes meant for the adults in the room. It felt a bit underwhelming when I realized it was geared toward kids. Still, as far as standalone films go, it’s excellent. The humor is well-balanced; they really hit all the right notes here.

That final scene where the squirrel nearly bursts out laughing from pure irony? That isn't just the highlight of the film; I’d argue it stands as one of the finest uses of irony in all of American cinema.

Look, I actually think Ice Age is awesome. And let's be real, it’s definitely not just for kids... kids laugh at completely different stuff in these movies than adults do...

For me, it’s totally Sid's Law, especially when he's trying to start a fire in the middle of a downpour while Manfred is just standing there like, "pretty sure I saw a spark." 😁 😁 😁
The squirrel is great, but I don't think it's the best part of the movie... still, I wish they had included more of him.😉
Oh yeah, who was that guy again? I totally missed that bit, probably because I was watching it on my laptop.

Was Gogo the leader of the saber-toothed tigers? Was it Soto, I think... or something like that.

I gotta say, I wasn't exactly blown away by this one. The animation holds up and there are a few decent jokes here and there, but the plot felt pretty formulaic. It’s not quite "just for kids" material either—honestly, I found Mulan funnier, and don't even get me started on Shrek.
Still, I'd give it a passing grade.

The bottom line is that the plot is built for kids, while the jokes are clearly aimed at adults—it's a win-win. It’s one of those rare movies where the whole family can actually enjoy watching 🙂
.
(I suppose some people might have missed most of the humor, making it feel a bit too juvenile for them 😛)

🙂 Ice Age is definitely one of the better animated films ever released... the plot is actually great (it’s not just some mindless thing for toddlers) and the animation is fantastic, even though I'm not usually a huge fan of CGI in movies
My favorite part has to be the very beginning with that crazy squirrel and his nut🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
It’s really well done, especially that scene in the cave where Manny remembers his family... honestly, it was so touching
Oh, and I almost forgot... the voice acting for Sid the Sloth is hilarious and totally brings that lovable character to life... cheers!

By the way, Denis Leary stars in this one, and I think I heard an actor in there who sounds just like a certain famous guy—I can't quite place him, but it caught my ear. I actually went looking to see if it was someone big, but it turns out it’s just these actors, so here I am...

(some people probably missed most of the jokes, so they figured it was too mature for children 😛)

I mean, what was there really to "get"? People used to say certain kid jokes were a bit too clever, so they assumed it was adult stuff.😁

By the way, Višnjić is basically your version of Soto, the leader of the Saber-toothed Tigers (like Bryan Martin31 already mentioned).

The thing is—throughout the entire movie, the humans don't even speak; it's just the animals doing all the talking. Plus, there's that layer of dark humor—like the whole bit about the extinction of the dodo birds... Given how much sheer chaos and destruction is going on, I honestly don't think this cartoon is really meant for kids.

For me, the absolute best part is when they stumble upon that frozen spaceship.👍

Look, the whole thing is basically a movie 🙂

It’s not Shrek, but honestly, it doesn't even really fit into a specific genre, if you think about it...
