I’m hitting all three Lord of the Rings extended editions back-to-back—not because I’m some die-hard fanatic or anything, but just because it’s a solid 14-hour marathon.

Mushrooms, Škaroruk, Spring for Hitler... all those great films that snobs only screen once a decade.

DAMN SUPERMAN!! WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME THAT SHOW WAS EVEN ON TV???! MAN, THOSE IDIOTS OVER AT HBO... AND ALL THE OTHERS TOO!! 😠

not really feeling that movie.
I'd rather see something like "The Beach Boys." That one stuck with me since I was a kid, just want to watch some childhood ninja crap again...
As for the serious stuff, I'd love to catch "Open Your Eyes" by Barbra Streisand. Everyone keeps hyping it up and I still haven't seen it.

The Beatles! (1992)-It’s been quite a while since they aired this one. I suspect it still holds the record for the highest TV ratings in America today.

.. I’ve been dreaming of watching Thelma & Louise, and I finally made it happen (😘 for the US)
.. Now, I'm craving some high-quality drama... preferably something European..

Too bad, you just missed Pedro Almodóvar's "Bohemian Rhapsody." It was a great film...🙏

The Master of Horrors series🙏 🙏
It airs every Friday and Saturday night, around 10:00 or 11:00 PM...

I really miss those old film nights... you know, those curated movie marathons... it would be nice to see them come back.

A John Malkovich film cycle... play Empire State of Mind again, then move into his older dramas. They could even throw in Being John Malkovich. At least they'd actually have something worth showing!👍>

Sure, throw John Malkovich in there—I’d even toss in Peter Sellers just for kicks 😍
Richard Carter59, you can take your opinions straight to the trash bin! 😁

It really was something else. Especially when you miss a screening, knowing it'll be back on rotation soon makes it easier. Plus, there’s just that specific vibe lately... like Andy Garcia is everywhere this week. Anyone else feeling that? 😬

I completely get you. That’s exactly how I felt while it was happening (especially in the early days when they’d run those cycles featuring truly incredible performances). It was an era before you could just find everything online instantly; back then, everyone actually showed up for movie nights.
I’d love to experience that again sometime, especially if they ever run a Pedro Almodóvar marathon.🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏

I’ve actually seen that before, though I didn't catch it while scrolling on my phone.
Off-topic. Angie and I are grabbing some food. 🙂I haven't watched much of it...

About a year ago, I actually reached out to PBS, and they told me they were looking into acquiring the rights to some Andrei Tarkovsky films... 😈
So, what I’m really thinking is that I’d love to see them run a Canadian cinema series—maybe something featuring the works of Francis Ford Coppola...
But honestly, that's probably just wishful thinking on my part...
We have to give credit where it's due, though; PBS is actually pretty solid when it comes to these director retrospectives. They’ve done runs of Eric Rohmer, Jean-Luc Godard, and Pedro Almodóvar in the past, and even now, they still host those director cycles every Saturday... 😛
