I can think of so many classics; movies like *Twister*, *It's a Wonderful Life*, *My Melodies, My Dreams*, *Ben-Hur*, and *Flash Gordon*... there are certainly more, but I just can't recall them all right this second. Honestly, the ones I'm craving most right now are those specific films that I remember playing on repeat back when I was a little girl, especially since they always seemed to be airing on TV during this cozy Christmas season.

Oh, really?
Aaaa, that's awesome! 🙂

Larry Martin11 said:...Murna, then Fassbinder, Godard, Truffaut, Bergman... movies you just can't find anywhere else. Honestly, I think the rest of the American public should be watching them too—on a decent schedule, mind you, not just some random Sunday morning at 10:00 AM
...I feel like NBC could actually learn a thing or two from the networks over in Europe, where they actually bother showing both the classics and modern art-house cinema on their channels. It seems like NBC has decided to take a completely different approach to what television actually is—or should be—and they build their programming accordingly (for instance, why doesn't NBC1 have not even one show dedicated strictly to books, featuring literary discussions and things of that nature?)...and I'm not even counting FOX or CNN
...since Nova managed to completely mess up their NFL broadcasts, how could we possibly expect anything "cultured" from them?

Because most people simply don't care about books.

I wish they would just broadcast Old Hollywood classics from the '30s and '40s instead.

I'm interested, I'm really interested.
See, that show idea you've got there? It's actually pretty brilliant—it never even crossed my mind! It would be so much fun to watch 🙂

I’ve always had a deep fascination with books myself... honestly, this sounds like a brilliant concept for a new show 👍

Excellent. There are already two of you. You should draft a petition and send it over to PBS! 😂

I’m fairly certain there are many more of us out there, especially if we only stumbled upon two of you just now... and by the way, you aren't being funny, not even a little bit.

I agree, I enjoy all sorts of books and I think a show like that would be lovely.👋

I’m a huge book lover too. Honestly, I’d love to see a more high-energy show—maybe something interactive? Not just a slow-paced program like *Antiques Roadshow* that drifts away from books anyway. A little off-topic, I know, but there it is.

I honestly feel like I could take most of them on; it’s all just passing like a sudden whirlwind. What a beautiful life it is—filled with my songs and the pursuit of my dreams.I can think of *Ben-Hur* and *Flash Gordon* right off the bat, though I’m sure there are plenty more floating around in the back of my mind that I just can't quite grasp at the moment. Right now, those two specifically stand out because they bring back such vivid memories of being a little girl, sitting in front of the TV watching them spin through the screen during the Christmas season.

I need to quote my own post because I just caught an ad on PBS announcing they’re going to air those two movies... I think it's on the 29th, though I haven't confirmed the exact date yet. If I'm not mistaken, they'll be showing even more classics too. Honestly, I am just so incredibly happy about this!🙂

I mean, if I actually sat around waiting for some network like ABC to finally air the movie I actually want to see, I’d be dead and buried before the opening credits even rolled. That’s literally why the internet exists.

Well, that movie was actually on TV recently, December 29th, a premiere on RTL

Formanov's Amadeus. That one only aired on RTL 2 a few years back—and in the middle of the night at that—but I don't recall seeing it on PBS. If it did air there, it must have been ages ago. The last time I watched it on TV—not counting later viewings on my laptop—was three years ago (back in 2016) on some low-budget international channel. Honestly, any Formanov film. It’s frankly absurd how little this director is given any screen time on network TV. When he passed away last year, PBS could have at least aired In memoriam pieces featuring his work, but no. ☕

Nosferatu (1922) , Frankenstein (1931) , The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) ... Or even just some other interesting gems from the silent era. I know I've mostly listed horror titles here, but those were simply the first ones that popped into my head.

Another really great flick you should check out is Fireproof. You can hunt it down on social media sites and download facebook videos, but honestly, it’s such a solid, well-known classic

Life of Brian....on ABC....prime time....for Easter....after that, we can finally say ABC is a network for all its viewers—and that America is truly a democratic, liberal, modern nation.

Wayne's world 1 and part 2—there is absolutely no way I'm catching those on PBS, they're still stuck in the dark ages over there playing cowboys and Indians.😛
