I used to be impressed by Amelia, but I'm not anymore.

I just finished watching that movie, and honestly, I felt like I’d stepped into some perfect little universe where everything is beautiful, everything works out, and everything finally lands exactly where it should. It’s got that magical realism vibe—not that there's a textbook definition for it or anything... but you know what I mean. Anyway, the film is great. It’s actually a perfect watch for all those chronic pessimists out there who swear the world is nothing but shades of gray. Sure, let's be real, life can be pretty bleak, but we still like to indulge in our dreams every now and then, don't we?🙂 👍

I found Amelie to be quite cinematic. It was genuinely entertaining and lighthearted—what my buddy would probably just call a "feel-good flick."

Here’s the actual point and the deeper meaning: being good to people because it's the right thing to do, not because you want something out of it.
And if you want to sum up the impact on the viewer, it's this: it makes you want to be a better person.

I absolutely love Amelie—mostly because when she starts listing off all those little quirks about who likes what, I actually see pieces of my own personality reflected back at me.
Of course, she’s just a mosaic of different people stitched together. For instance: I’m a total hypochondriac + I can’t stop popping those tiny air bubbles + I find the sound of cracking knuckles oddly satisfying 😁
It’s those specific, granular details that I find so compelling; they tell you so much more about a person than the usual, boring way we introduce ourselves—you know, "Hi, I'm this person, I'm this age, and I work at this company."
On a side note, I actually visited that little bar where they filmed the movie 🙂

Now, you might find this hard to believe if you weren't aware, but he also directed Alien Resurrection.
