My laptop won't shut down!

Got a bit of a mess here: I fired up my laptop and the standard password prompt popped up, but I can't actually type anything—the field just won't let me enter the password. To make things worse, I can't even shut the thing down; whenever I hit the power button, it just goes into sleep mode instead. I'm running Windows 10 on a Toshiba Satellite—it's got a touchscreen too... any ideas?

Just hold down that power button for more than three seconds and the whole thing should shut off completely.
And regarding the mouse... I'm guessing you actually meant the touchpad or something along those lines?

Try clicking that button right above the Caps Lock key; maybe it'll switch you over to the screen where you can type in your password.

Every time I hit the power button, my laptop just goes right back into sleep mode. I even tried holding it down for 30 seconds—nothing. I can't even get the cursor to let me type in my password. When I hover over the input field and left-click, absolutely nothing happens. Tried a right-click too... still nothing.
