Where did my Windows 10 Start menu go?

Ever since I installed Opera, my left-click on the Windows 10 Start menu just isn't working right.
Basically, instead of getting this:



I end up with this when I right-click:



It’s also acting weird with the taskbar icons—if I try to click ones that used to be in the menu, they pop up for a second and then immediately vanish.



Does anyone have any clue how to fix this?

By the way, the issue from that previous thread is still hanging around, too.

You can solve all of these issues by refreshing Windows. Just type "reset" into the search bar and run the reinstall.

Great, so now that I’ve followed Microsoft’s own instructions to "reset to default settings," they went ahead and wiped my entire Office 2016 installation along with a whole bunch of other stuff 🤦

Since it’s a full factory reset—just like on your phone—everything gets wiped clean.
They really should have made that clearer in the instructions.

My bad for not mentioning that earlier, but there’s usually a warning right there about the exact same thing. Since you're dealing with those typical "which error is which" headaches that always pop up during a Windows upgrade, the smartest move is honestly just a clean install. It saves you the trouble later when things inevitably go sideways again. As for the programs that got wiped out—like your Office 2016 suite—just reinstall them. They'll activate themselves automatically once you're back up and running.

I don't actually have that suite myself; a buddy from work installed it for me, and now I'm totally stuck since he's out on vacation.👎

The apps are finally gone—yes!!!!

Can anyone recommend a decent PC repair shop? We tried installing Windows, but it just won't boot from the DVD, and now the reboot isn't working either.

The issue is fixed🙏🙏🙏🙏
