So, I picked up a brand new Dell Latitude E5540 about five months ago
But here’s the deal: whenever I fire up a game on this thing, my power adapter starts making this weird buzzing sound. And it’s not just the brick itself—you can actually hear that same buzzing vibration coming from inside the laptop too
Everything runs perfectly fine until I actually launch a game
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of thing? I'm seriously wondering if this is some kind of red flag or if it's actually going to fry my laptop

Dangerous or not, it’s just not right... What happens if you start the game without the charger plugged in?

Look, regardless of how bad it seems, there's a power issue here. You should report the fault and take it to an authorized service center ASAP (it's still under warranty, right?). It's better to fix it while the damage is small. This buzzing coming from both the laptop and the charger sounds like the problem could escalate, and if you're unlucky enough to fry something like the motherboard, you'll be waiting forever for parts to arrive...

So, here’s the deal: whenever I fire up a game while I'm running on battery, I don't hear that annoying buzzing sound from my laptop. But the second I plug in the charger and start gaming, there it is—that buzzing comes right back. It's weird because if I'm just hanging out online, watching YouTube, scrolling Facebook, or catching a movie, everything stays totally silent.

Has this been happening since you first unboxed the laptop, or did it just start out of nowhere?

It didn't just start happening out of nowhere; this stuff actually kicked off about three or four days ago

Then it’s definitely not right. You don't play games with stuff like this; it can lead to much bigger failures—like an ECU blowout, as someone else pointed out. Just take it straight to the mechanic and don't let them give it back until that buzzing sound is gone.

I'm actually gonna drag him down to the mechanic tomorrow, so thanks a ton for all the help everyone!

It probably would have been better to just take it to the service center since it's still under warranty.☕
How did it turn out?
