I've got a Toshiba Satellite. About ten days ago, I ran a "clean" using system Mechanic Professional, and ever since, booting up takes nearly five minutes. I tried using a Windows 7 service pack recovery disk, but the machine won't even recognize F2, F9, or F12 during startup—it completely ignores Esc or Del.
It’s almost comical; the entire desktop loads with all my icons before the Windows greeting screen even appears, which takes another two minutes. I'd love to just wipe everything and reinstall from scratch, but how am I supposed to get into the BIOS?
Any advice?
I already ran a scan and there are no viruses.

Run a system restore to a point about 10 days ago.🙂

I'm done with System Mechanic Professional and all that garbage.

Did you make sure to move everything out of the startup?
Hit winkey+R, type in msconfig, and check the startup tab.
After that, head over to the Boot tab and select Safe boot along with Network.
Download Malwarebytes, run a scan, and wipe out anything it detects.
Once the scan finishes, it’ll generate a log; copy and paste it here.

Can someone help me with this part? (did you clear out everything from the startup?
winkey+R---msconfig---startup?)

I already have Malwarebytes, but where am I supposed to upload the log?

It's all right there in the instructions.

Hit the Windows key and the R key at the same time on your keyboard. Type msconfig and hit Enter. A new window will pop up. Go to the Startup tab and uncheck every single program listed under startup.

Just copy the log and paste it here; it should open in Notepad.

But they brought back F2, F9, F12, and all those other keys... now even the logs will follow
Anyway, I can just reinstall Windows from scratch. Thanks.

Back in normal mode now. Everything is functioning properly—booting fine, speeds are back to where they should be, and restarts aren't an issue anymore. I suppose
reinstalling Windows is on the horizon. I can't tell if it was your help or because I had
Tweaking.com - Windows Repair ( All in One running at the same time, but thanks either way.
If you spot anything unusual in the script, let me know.🙂🙂🙂

Sorry, but I don't see an edit option anywhere. All I see is quote, multi-quote, and quick reply, and that's it.

Maybe if I hit 100 posts, things would change, but it seems we aren't all playing by the same rules...

Look, it wasn't even that "infected" to begin with.
At this point, unless you've already gone through the trouble of a full Windows reinstall to wipe out all that junk from System Mechanic Professional and similar bloatware, you aren't truly done.

You might also want to grab http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/.
Run it, let it finish its scan, and once it's done, just hit Clean. Restart your machine and you should be good to go.
