Honestly, what would we even do with seven-lane highways in a single direction? We don't need all that extra space just because we have three weekends a year where two lanes feel a little tight.

And look, if the traffic and the lines are getting under your skin, just start smoking. Open the window, light up a cigarette, and suddenly that gridlock isn't going to raise your blood pressure at all.☕

Honestly, I think we wouldn't be dealing with these massive traffic jams if we just switched to windshield vignettes instead of those overpriced toll plazas.

It’s way easier for them to screw us over than to mess with some outsider. It's like how a local shopkeeper will rip off his own neighbor just because he knows they won't make a scene, but he'll play nice with a tourist from out of town. They know we're right here. We're sitting ducks. ☕

Hold on just a second—didn't Jesus say he lived right there? Where exactly are you hiding, sir?

I’m always heading out toward the Hudson River, and I can't help but laugh at the absolute idiots standing around waiting to pay for their groceries with cash...

But then where would all those political appointees get their jobs?

I headed out to Miami yesterday during the absolute peak of the rush. It honestly felt like the traffic jam stretched all the way from New York to Jacksonville on a map, but I suppose that’s just how it goes. Since it's summer, the crowds are pretty much expected. As long as people are spending money, I guess it's fine. It took me an extra hour to reach the coast, but it's not really a big deal.

I usually hit up that South Beach stretch too; it's probably one of the best parts of our highway system. Using the automated lanes is way faster for me. It’s kind of the same thing when you go through the Eisenhower Tunnel, $6.75 you just tap the machine and you're good to go.

The whole thing is that we’ve already poured money into these roads through various taxes and grants, so why should the local contribution be just as steep as what some tourist pays?

Dammit, we’re out here protecting foreigners while they get fleeced by everyone else, simply because those other countries actually look out for their own citizens.

If they don't want to cough up the cash, they can just wander around on foot at 3 PM like it's a damn hike. ☕

From what I understand, about 60% of what you pay at the pump goes straight to the government, with a huge chunk being road fees and excise taxes

http://www.nytimes.com/gas-prices-and-taxes-explained/884780/

Just from those highway user fees alone, drivers end up paying billions, and that's strictly for road maintenance

When you consider that agencies like the Department of Transportation have three or four times more employees than they actually need, the math starts to add up—it ends up reflected in those sky-high tolls. Honestly, part of the problem is also just the massive overspending and corruption during those big interstate construction projects

It’s the same story with big cities like New York; utility costs stay inflated because there are tens of thousands of people working for the municipal conglomerates and city hall, and in my experience, at least a third of them aren't even doing much work

But regardless, traffic is going to be a mess no matter how you organize the system. It's just that time of year, and it happens everywhere across the US...

I have a few photos from my bedroom, but I'm not quite sure how to get them uploaded online.

To those claiming our highway system is unnecessary, I have absolutely nothing but contempt...

Watching the Independence Day special on RTL, what an utter waste of celluloid...
