Some guy showed up just to play babysitter for Carlos. Basically, he’s there to smooth things over with Iran.

Lol
I mean... It looks great on a CV to have been the damn Prime Minister.
He'll collect his payout eventually, don't you worry about that.

I don't buy that he's doing this for the money. It’s not even likely—but it is pretty weird that someone with such a shaky grasp of "their own" language would be driven by some emotional crusade or political challenge.
Someone just fed him this idea and he swallowed it whole without thinking twice.
Honestly, I can't imagine what would have to happen for him to stay in that seat longer than six months. I wouldn't bet a single cent on it...

A job at Teva carries more weight for your future career than serving as the Prime Minister of America...

It’s hard to believe anyone could sway an ultra-wealthy guy who's been in the game for fifty years. The real question is whose interests are actually being served here...

But let’s be real, everything over the last few days has just been theater for the masses. Surely everyone sees that someone of his caliber doesn't just decide on something like this overnight; it means he’s been prepping for months. Plus, he already resigned and cleared things up with his company (as soon as he saw he could step into the role immediately). Even most of the Libertarian Party representatives didn't know what was coming during those negotiations when Milanovic was offering the PM spot to Petrov, or when Vukovac was arguing just hours before the decision on Orešković that Petrov deserved the job.

Also, a guy on Orešković's level definitely wouldn't have cut ties with his company unless he was certain about how this whole thing would play out. And if he knew the outcome, then the whole deal was likely pre-arranged from the start, meaning the Libertarian Party (at least the heavy hitters, not every single rep) was actually the Republican Party's brainchild. That explains why Vaso was likely bragging around that the "Living Wall" was his own project—partly to tank their ratings and partly to distract from the real plan. If that was the case, he and the architects behind this were incredibly clever...

We also shouldn't forget how Petrov suddenly got a massive wave of publicity right before the elections, while the Living Wall was pretty much ignored (not that I was rooting for them, I'm just stating facts)...

The leadership in the Libertarian Party surely didn't settle on Orešković in just a few hours without doing their homework—unless they are complete amateurs, which I highly doubt...

We'll see how it goes. I really hope this turns out well for America, even though we're facing a huge unknown ahead...

I honestly find it hilarious when people act like someone wouldn't jump into politics if they weren't chasing a paycheck. Like, "Oh, he’s already loaded, why would he bother?" Please. It's the same nonsense they said about Berlusocan, and the guy was swimming in cash long before he ever ran for office. Or look at guys like Kerum over here. People just don't get how it works.

I mean, Silvio didn't get into politics for the money, at least not directly. He did it for the power, I guess. He’s obsessed with it, and you can still see him trying to claw his way back into office even though, realistically, he could just live out his days with thirty hookers on some private beach. Of course, being Prime Minister definitely helped his business ventures, too. I mean, damn, when you're traveling around meeting all these heavy hitters, you make contacts that obviously help the bottom line.
As for Kerum? He's just an idiot.🤣

Look, Kerum might be an idiot, but he still managed to use taxpayer money to build a driveway for his private hotel. I don't see why someone like Orešković wouldn't do the same thing. Just look at Tony Blair—after the political grind, he jumped into consulting and started pulling in three times what he makes now. Money is power. This whole idea that someone is going to slash their income from $67 a month down to $6.75 just because, you know, "they're already rich," is hands down the stupidest take of the year.

Forget the income and the cash for a second; being Prime Minister will bring him way more long-term leverage than some measly $20,000-$67. And it isn't even strictly about politics (at least, that’s how it looks right now). What I find ridiculous is watching all these self-proclaimed experts on the news try to dismiss his lack of political experience. For crying out loud—if you land a CEO position and can effectively dictate the fate of hundreds of thousands of jobs, isn't that directly shaping policy?

America is crawling with career politicians who have managed to screw up everything they've touched. While half of Europe is trying to trim the fat of bloated government bureaucracies, here in the States, we seem to be doing the exact opposite. In a functioning democracy, people like Milanovic and Karamarko would have been forced out of their parties by now since they actually lost the elections and failed to meet their party's objectives. The electoral laws should have been overhauled ages ago to prevent these fringe losers with 1% of the vote from sliding into Congress through endless coalitions involving hundreds of tiny parties.

Oreskovica's priority would likely be streamlining the federal bureaucracy just like he cleaned up the private sector—and that's exactly why our establishment parties would view him as a threat. But fortunately, we still have the IMF... as much as it sounds harsh to suggest a massive international beast needs to bail us out from "our own" countrymen—and, frankly, from whatever little money the average American has left.

Kerum is definitely unrefined, but calling him just a "jerk" is an understatement. That hotel driveway is the least of what the government has handed him on a silver platter:

http://www.dailymail.com/news/us-politics/article-link-placeholder

"Ultimately, ten affiliated companies, 715 supplier creditors, nine financial institutions, and 110 public administration bodies or state-owned enterprises are all seeking funds from the 'Kerum' corporation."

Wait, where did I actually say he was going to cut his pay? I just said Silvio didn't jump into politics solely for the cash. And yeah, obviously money is power, though I guess you're probably more powerful running a massive country than being "just" a billionaire. Personally, I'm not really expecting anyone to take a pay cut; I just want them to do their job honestly and responsibly. What they do once their term is up? Honestly, I couldn't care less. If there are people out there willing to buy his consulting services, then hey, good for him.
