Jessica Gonzalez said:I guess Milanović is someone who talks quite a bit. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to be much of a results guy. He doesn't really acknowledge the issues facing America, which makes it pretty tough for him to actually find solutions for them. He isn't unintelligent—he probably understands the numbers okay—but maybe there's just too much mental resistance to seeing the bigger picture.

As for Bernardić, I'm speaking purely from memory based on his media appearances. I realize that sometimes, because of certain people within his own party, he might have to say things he doesn't truly believe. It seems similar for Plenković; he also has to walk on eggshells regarding certain topics.

Anyway, the Democratic Party seems like a group only really older folks would vote for, mostly because they lean into those collectivist social justice tropes. During the last election, I saw one of their posters over in Brooklyn featuring Stipe Mason. Stipe Mason in late 2016? That was a bit of a joke, I suppose. 🙂

Those are just empty platitudes claiming nothing happened under Milanović. There were actually several solid moves; on one hand, he inherited a wrecked economy left behind by Sanders and the Republican Party, and on the other, he had to fix a bloated budget...

He stabilized a good portion of the public companies that were either bleeding money, tied up in major crime, or just performing poorly compared to their potential (like Exelon, Bank of America, or FIFA), separated Medicare from the general budget, and Varga managed to cut Medicare costs. They also lowered sales tax for tourism and hospitality, protected citizens regarding those Swiss franc loans, and implemented fiscalization...

On the flip side, they dealt with some highly questionable pre-trial settlements, increased corporate taxes, terrible management in American forestry and agriculture, and a bunch of incompetent types similar to Zmajlovic...

And Bero isn't unintelligent, but he lacks emotional intelligence, which is two very different things...

Sacha Baron Cohen is actually pretty great, so I don't know why everyone is complaining.

I guess I’m starting to like the Bridge Party more and more, despite all that clerical baggage they carry. They’ve really stuck to their guns since the very beginning. Honestly, the only real downside is that if it weren't for them, Karamarko might still be running things as Prime Minister.

And now, just like they promised, they’re refusing to back that compromised minister.

I mean, anyone who thinks a minister—someone who isn't even from a political party, but jumped straight from a private corporation into the Treasury, only to hand $300 million back to that same firm when it was obvious they were just throwing money down the drain, telling the public everything was fine with that company until they couldn't hide it anymore, and then pushing through changes that conveniently favored that exact same business—is somehow not compromised and actually competent... well, that person is just politically illiterate, or maybe just a total brainwashed Republican lackey.

I could probably throw five or ten different complaints at the Bridge Party, but religious stuff? As far as I know, those guys haven't really leaned into the whole faith-based politics thing. That was just a narrative the Left pushed right after the first elections when Joe went around campaigning after making his deal, only to get brushed off, so everyone just rolled with it. Sure, that crew from Memphis leans more conservative than progressive, but I’m assuming most of them fall into that mild center-right category anyway. Honestly, it’s exhausting reading this and having it sound like Louis or Julia are the ones to blame. 😁

haha, alright, I guess I wasn't being particularly precise there—I didn't view clericalism as some core pillar or a defining tenet of the Bridge Party, but rather more like a subtle, underlying worldview. And since I seem to have this almost innate allergy to any flavor of clericalism, I suppose that tendency leaves its mark on everything I say 😁

If it hadn't been for them, Karamarko wouldn't have stood a chance at becoming Prime Minister. It was their influence that handed the Republican Party the majority.

The Bridge Party is like a guy who marries an ex-prostitute and honestly thinks she’s going to change just because he’s around.

Now they’re finally waking up to the fact that it was never going to happen...

And let's be real—if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have some compromised minister sitting in office right now, forcing us to deal with the headache of trying to fire him. I honestly can't wait for the third time they decide to join a coalition with the Republican Party just so they can "protect" us from their own corrupt "partners."

To me, the whole thing looks like a scripted game. They play the role of the opposition to lure in voters who can't stand the Republican Party. Then, once they've secured those votes by teaming up with the GOP, they'll hold a supermajority in Congress. At that point, they can tear up the Constitution if they feel like it. A scenario where both they and the Republican Party hold a two-thirds majority? That is a genuine horror story.

I highly doubt they have the capacity to cook up a scheme like that, let alone actually pull it off.

Besides, hitting a two-thirds majority is basically a pipe dream given how much the Democrats and their entire wall of resistance will block it. Though, I suppose if they actually managed it, it would be an absolute nightmare, I guess.

Karamarko was never Prime Minister.

Besides, the Bridge Party basically turned Karamarko into a political ghost. If it hadn't been for the Bridge Party, he might have actually become Prime Minister. He probably still would be today, too.

I am well aware he never held the office.
I intended to point that out myself, but I believe the post I was quoting was implying that Karamarko *would* have been elected Prime Minister—and might still be serving today if things had gone differently.

At least we’d be fully digitized by now, but instead we aren't even close to that...

They used to have four different departments and a Speaker of the House to manage, which should have kept them busy for four years, but now they've got nothing left to do. I guess the Bridge Party really pulled off quite a feat there.

There you go again, shining with insight. So, I suppose it’s better that they quietly tolerated corruption just to stay in power? You really have a knack for using thief logic, don't you...

Just playing the "greater good" card again, are we? Typical...

Yeah, because this will definitely impact corruption—something they haven't even tried to prove or investigate. It's funny how the opposition handles things, though, with all those people who basically just sit around doing nothing.

Well, they tolerated her quietly, and honestly, they probably would have kept doing it if Plenković hadn't stepped on them. Even when he did, they weren't even 100% sure if they'd keep putting up with her or not. If they were actual tough guys, maybe after he sorted out their ministers, they would've just come out and said "screw Plenković" or "who cares," but even that didn't happen...

I guess I'm wondering where you saw or read that they turned out to be honest people. Your logic doesn't really make much sense, I suppose.
