Setting aside all the environmental panic-mongering, the reality is that ecological health actually thrives best in free-market economies. Government intervention tends to fail everywhere, and this field is certainly no exception.

😍 🤣

Honestly, screw all those eco-warriors. Like they’re the only ones who give a damn about the planet? As if the rest of us just sit around worshiping concrete jungles and highways. I’ve spent more time mowing my lawn this week than most of these activists have seen a blade of grass in their entire lives.

And another thing—stick it to them for that "No" policy. Seriously. I’m praying electricity prices skyrocket. If it happens, I'll be right there rolling in the mud, sitting in total darkness, loving every second of it. ☕

Have a good one, whatever.

And where exactly are you going? Into the woods?

Look, I get where you're coming from, but you just don't see the bigger picture and honestly, you probably never will, because I was being super specific about one tiny little niche here, and besides, this whole board keeps a paper trail of everything if you just bother to scroll back through the last few pages, but then suddenly we get hit by Mr. Know-It-All wiredfalcon2 over here bringing up Mohawks, Catholics, and some random statistic about how 21% of people are Protestants, and frankly, it's probably for the best that you're heading out, because I bet you would've pivoted to talking about the IRS or a dozen other random topics in your very next post anyway.

Is there anything more ridiculous than watching these high-society types lecture us on ecology? I’d love to take them out to a real working vineyard in California just so they could get a tiny taste of what actual eco-friendly production looks like. ☕

It’s actually pretty wild how people from places like Sweden or Norway totally flip their mindset once they touch down in warmer, Mediterranean spots—suddenly, they don't give a damn about all the local myths or petty corruption.

And that whole argument claiming the Czech Republic is thriving just because they aren't religious? 🤣 Please. Those folks were already loaded five centuries ago; honestly, they’re just trying to get back to where they used to be. If they hadn't dealt with that whole Communist era mess, they'd be sitting right up there with the British.

It’s always these same anti-capitalist types who aren't even actual socialists, but man, if you handed one of them an AR-15, they’d turn an old red t-shirt and a tree branch into a revolutionary flag before you could even blink.

Oh, please. I have some respect for the real revolutionaries from back in the day; at least they had the guts to back up their talk. These people? They're just looking for a handout from the federal budget.

I honestly think wiredfalcon2 actually has the guts to pick up an AR-15 if things really went south😂

Justin James10 said:What do you even call this trend nowadays? Maybe statism?

I mean, how else would you describe all those tired mantras about "outdated capitalism," the "decaying West," the supposed need for more government overreach, or the endless whining about neoliberalism?

Postmodernism.

I honestly get a little misty-eyed whenever I see this sudden wave of "brotherhood" between Real Madrid and Barcelona fans. It’s truly touching, isn't it? Just seeing everyone suddenly act like they’re best friends after years of hating each other's guts. Does anyone actually buy this, or are we all just participating in some massive, collective delusion?

ruggedjackal46 isn't just one of those guys who would be sitting around a campfire with a bunch of wild-eyed radicals, mapping out some massive strike against a corporate giant, only to stop everything and say, hold on a second guys, is this actually necessary, because I just spotted a little piglet, two kittens, and a really sweet little wolf in the backyard and I'd hate for them to get caught in the crossfire, so maybe we can just settle this without any weapons or heavy-handed force? 😂

At the end of the day, it isn't about the Lakers versus the Celtics anymore—we’re all one big family.🧐

wiredfalcon2 said:Look, isn't that really the whole point of living? Just figuring out if someone's a crook or not. Honestly, I’d give anything to live in a society where nobody gives a damn about my business. Like, if I'm gay, or a lesbian, or had an abortion, or if I'm single without kids... who cares? If I rock a mohawk and spend my days on a skateboard, let people stare. It shouldn't matter. At the end of the day, the economy is maybe a fifth of what actually makes up a social life, if it's even that much. Everything else is just noise.

Maybe economics is even less than a fifth of social life, but... I don't know, without a solid economy, all those other topics kind of become irrelevant. It's only because we live in these economically prosperous societies that we can even afford to debate these things as major issues instead of just passing comments.
Besides, the kind of perfect society you're dreaming of doesn't exist anywhere.☕ Even in places like Scandinavia, there are people who aren't fans of gay folks or who look at abortion or, you know, "freaks" with total disgust. Sure, the percentage is lower, but I think I read recently that in Sweden, like, a quarter of the population thinks abortion is immoral—they wouldn't ban it, obviously, but they clearly don't view it positively. And honestly, I doubt anyone's gonna stare at a woman after an abortion mostly because, let's be real, hardly any woman is gonna brag about something that’s probably pretty traumatic. Personally, I think women who have abortions are being stupid—not because of the act itself, but because they let themselves get into a situation where they have to risk their health with such an aggressive process that leaves lasting effects. And for those who do go through it, I'd almost say they shouldn't reproduce so they don't pollute the gene pool with their stupidity. I mean, imagine being in the 21st century in a Western country having multiple abortions when you have access to every single type of birth control out there. As for everything else... most people don't give a damn, but there will always be those little groups of people who judge you and throw shade, so I guess my advice is just to get used to it. People used to give me crap because I'm tall, stocky, and have red hair, but I just laugh it off and move on. Like that old saying goes: it doesn't matter what's said, it matters who's saying it. My sister actually lives and works in Germany, and she has this coworker there who constantly asks her when she's getting married since she has a boyfriend. Just to be clear, the coworker is German.

I feel like everything should be privatized. I guess there isn't a single part of the economy that wouldn't benefit from it, including things like healthcare. Maybe even the education system would see some improvements if we had more private alternatives available.

What kind of hardcore neoliberal rhetoric is this? 😲

Nowadays, shifts in worldview happen incredibly fast, and I don't think our society is particularly backward or primitive. In fact, in some respects, we are quite civilized and advanced. For example, here, even after the war when everyone had weapons, we have very little gun crime today, and people voluntarily handed over rifles to the police whenever they could. Despite the horrific bloodshed in the North America during the 90s, there is almost no terrorism between the warring factions here now, which is nearly a phenomenon. Terrorism has occurred in the UK, Spain, Russia, and Germany, even though they had far fewer political problems and conflicts compared to the former America. But here, there is none after the war. Americans are actually a very peaceful people, perhaps too laid back and overly self-critical, maybe too afraid to clear out things that aren't working. Even demonstrations like the ones in Greece aren't really possible here because the people aren't violent. On the other hand, in America, where most modern fads start, the right to carry a weapon is as much a right as going to a bakery is for us. Slavery was abolished here back in the 12th century.

Privatization isn't some magic bullet—it’s not penicillin, and it won't fix society overnight. Look at the private colleges here in the States—can you name one that actually holds its own against a major state university? Not a single one. They all just focus on making it easy to pass—leaking exam questions and lowering standards to turn a profit. But hey, as long as they're private, I guess it's a win. 🙏

I guess I don't really see why everyone is making such a big deal out of this. Every society has its share of far-right activists, radical leftists, fringe theorists, old-school traditionalists, and even criminals. She isn't some uniquely American icon like Coca-Cola or Ford; she’s just a local figurehead pushing a conservative agenda. Maybe it's actually helpful to have someone applying pressure from the right to protect certain values, even if those ideas seem a bit outdated to some people. It seems like you need those conservative voices alongside more progressive or liberal perspectives to balance things out and introduce necessary freedoms.

I suppose what you're saying could also apply to public universities, so I'm not quite sure why it's an issue if someone wants to pay a premium for a certain degree. It's their money, so it's probably their choice. I guess it's better they spend it on education rather than drugs. Though, maybe they'll leave a little left over for a coke, but I suppose even drug dealers need to make a living too.
