If you aren't in a rush, prices will definitely drop by Black Friday; expect them to hit around the $2,000 mark once those sales kick in. They’re already seeing significant discounts on certain models over in Germany...

https://www.mydealz.de/deals/lokal-m...led-tv-1211873

Based on Vidin's signature, he's basically Mia's biggest fan—he'll probably head over to Munich to catch a Bayern Munich game and just try to lug a TV back with him, assuming his trunk is big enough to fit it. 😁

hahaha, man, there's no coming back from that one! 😛 🤣

Anyway, thanks a ton, my friend 👍
That's actually the exact one I was looking at—it’s basically the gold standard in every single one of those vs reviews whenever they talk about the best LG models, so I’ve definitely done my homework on this specific unit.

Thanks again! 👍

Sure, the C8 is basically the gold standard in those top Tier reviews. If you’re truly itching to drop $5,000, you can always grab the 77-inch version of that same model. However, unless you’re an extreme cinephile or sitting at a massive distance from the screen, I suspect it would be an unnecessary expense for you. 👍

Nah, my living room is totally fine. It’s nothing spectacular or massive (not like I have some ridiculous setup where the TV is miles away), but look, I’ve finally stopped being so cheap with myself, so now I can actually afford to grab something decent—though honestly, I don't really need a 118-inch monster screen 😬

Alright, let's get serious for a second. Since you're probably out of the country right now, you're saying things feel just as expensive as they do back home... Just hang tight until you stumble upon a good sale before you pull the trigger on a new TV. Don't go rushing into a bad purchase.
They always pop up eventually. A few months ago, I snagged a TV at Jupiter for $600 that usually goes for $1,000, and today that $1,000 price tag is pretty standard.

Personally, I’d never drop that kind of cash on a TV given how insanely fast the technology is evolving. I’d rather grab something decent for $2k now, then see what the cutting edge looks like again in a year or two.
Just look at that ultra-thin model LG released; I think it's sitting around $6k.

It's actually thinner than a smartphone, and everything suggests that's exactly where TV tech is heading...
Either way, you can't really lose, and honestly, an average user isn't going to notice much difference between OLED and QLED or whatever else is out there.

Man, all that cash wasted on trashy shows and garbage programming... honestly, I’m starting to dread even having the TV on when there's actually decent stuff playing outside.

I was just pointing out that there's someone else on this forum who knows their stuff.

I don't know the first thing about televisions.

Maybe try checking the Information Technology subforum.

Actually, people in the US have way more downtime than in the old days back home. Since the standard is a 40-hour week, anything extra usually comes with overtime pay. In the old system, working 60 hours a week was just standard procedure without any extra perks. If you dared to say no, you were basically breathing down the neck of management.
Of course, if you're at a government agency, you're basically pulling 20-hour weeks, so none of this applies to them.

Dude, the moment you're talking about is way more like this...

The Storm is just getting started...

It's coming...

Ugh. Seriously, out of all the nonsense in this world, I just don't get why people feel the need to throw money at some disposable, fast-fashion crap made by white guys...

Honestly, I don't even know what kind of TV I actually have—don't know the brand or the screen size, I'll have to go check. Pretty sure it's a Samsung, though. I dropped a decent amount of cash on it just two years ago. But for what? I only turn the damn thing on once a week to watch Cholov's disciples run wild... everything this thing does, my old Samsung that I used to watch the League on when I was a kid could do just fine. On/off, volume up and down, what else is there...
And there's no way he'll serve even half as long as that other guy did...

Whatever, to each their own. Respect...

Here’s the real issue, though—he’s never even home! He’s grinding from 6 AM until 8 PM.
I bet he'll be heading back home pretty soon, I know how guys from construction sites act.
And he better watch out with his wife, because it looks like she isn't even remotely interested in moving abroad, and she’s the one calling all the shots.
He'll be heading back real quick, mark my words.

Those days are long gone, but honestly, who’s really qualified to sit there and tell us what's what? Why can't we just have both? 🕺

If anyone's getting offended, they can deal with it themselves...

Spending an absolute fortune on a Television makes zero sense if you aren't planning to watch almost exclusively UHD content.
I have a Sony UHD Series 7, and even when I’m watching standard HD content, the picture quality is absolutely brutal—and that was back when this model was considered a top-tier set and HD was already the established standard in any developed nation.
Between my DreamBox and Netflix, only a genuine UHD signal actually squeezes the maximum potential out of this television.
The screen size is 55 inches, so if you're sitting at a relatively close distance, those SD channels look about as grainy as a VHS tape of your parents' wedding back in the 80s.
So, honestly, finding something in the mid-range around a thousand dollars is the real best buy if you don't intend to stream 99% UHD content.
If you *are* going that route, then by all means, go for an OLED, since every expert claims it's the gold standard for picture quality... though, personally, I have an S8 and the screen burn-in is quite persistent, especially with things like VoxPop...

Honestly, aside from sports or stuff like National Geographic and Discovery, I don't really sit around watching much television.
I mostly catch movies or series on Netflix or through other means, but I usually just stick to 1080p.

So you're saying it's pointless? But look, in a year or two, everything should eventually be available in 4K anyway, at least whatever makes its way onto the streaming services.

And there's no way I'm swapping out my Television every single year or two.

I'd rather just download everything now so I can have some peace and quiet for at least five years.

I’ll be the first to admit that I am completely out of my depth when it comes to this kind of technical stuff. That being said, it doesn't stop me from noticing those massive differences between manufacturers—you know, how one model differs from another or how certain specs seem to matter more than others. To be perfectly honest, to my eyes, it all looks pretty much the same. When I’m at home, I usually just stick to watching a game, some sports, or perhaps a movie or a series via a USB drive; my brother just plugs in the PlayStation, and we’re good to go. It’s the same experience when I’m watching a screen at a friend's house or even just staring at a display in a local pub. I suppose you’d need to be watching much more delicate, high-fidelity content to truly appreciate all those technical advantages you guys are talking about, wouldn't you?

I absolutely agree that it is insane to drop such massive amounts of money on a Television these days. Just yesterday, my brother bought a new set over in Washington, D.C., where his girlfriend lives, just so he’d have something decent to watch when he visits her; and he tells me, "Man, you should see this incredible television I just picked up, blah blah blah..."
It was some TCL model, absolutely massive—he could barely even squeeze it into the car—and it cost him about five thousand two hundred dollars. I just sat there thinking, "You could have easily solved that problem for half the price," but hey, what can you do? He kept trying to explain the technicalities to me, but honestly, I wasn't really paying much attention. Truthfully, I had never even heard of that brand before, but I suppose he knows better than I do. ☕

Those Chinese brands, I guess they’re just brute-forcing their way into the market.
I honestly think their tech is actually pretty solid.

Personally, I’m all for just buying the good stuff and getting it over with, instead of doing things halfway like my sister did. She buys this damn Television and spends the first month using it like some freaking radio before having to haul it off to service—because of course, something breaks in the first few days while it's still under warranty—and then those guys spend two or three months "fixing" the damn thing back in 2017. They literally fixed it on the very last day just because their contract forced them to swap it for a new one, obviously the exact same model.

Just a heads up: it wasn't some $500 bargain, it was a decent price, maybe around $1500-$833. I don't know the exact number right now.

I just don't have the patience to mess around with that kind of crap... Buying something and then not being able to actually use it...

My friend, a quick side note here. Sony's Series 7 isn't actually a flagship; it’s more of a low-midrange option. It features 60Hz panels and a budget image processor, so it's hardly surprising that if the input signal doesn't perfectly match the panel—meaning it isn't UHD—even the interpolation or upscaling of an HD signal won't be top-notch.

Above Series 7, you have Series 8 with 100Hz panels and more advanced processors, and then finally Series 9, which represents the top-tier LCD lineup with 100Hz panels and advanced X1 or X1 Extreme processors designed for high-quality upscaling of lower-resolution signals. Those would be your premium LED LCDs.

Then you get to the OLED series, which I believe are the A. series over at Slony. Most manufacturers follow this general nomenclature: Series 4 or 5 for the low end, then Series 7 and 8, followed by Series 9 for the high end. Or something similar.

The catch is that you can't really find a decent HD TV anymore; they only sell UHD now. If you do find an HD model, it's usually tucked away in some rare, entry-level lineups.
