Well, you can go ahead and be proud of the Oxford comma.
I’ve been using it for years without even knowing there was a name for it. Honestly, I just use it because my grammar is questionable at best, so I didn't even realize I was doing it... ☕

Paul Martinez73 said:I’m still trying to wrap my head around how these penalty points actually work... Sometimes I hit 30 and I’m banned from posting for three days, then other times I rack up 45 twice and I’m locked out for a whole day.
Once, I hit 500, which basically meant two chunks of 500—so 1000 total—and I couldn't post at all.
Does anyone actually understand the math behind this mess?

The rules regarding these cards and bans have shifted around a bit lately—I don't know all the fine print, and honestly, I couldn't care less about the specifics—but here's the gist:
With 30 points, you aren't necessarily banned yet; you probably just crossed that magic 100-point threshold and got tossed into the ban bin. It's a similar deal with that 45-point card.
A 500-point card triggers a much longer lockout.
Basically, any time your total points hit a hundred-mark increment—100, 200, 300, and so on—you get banned.
Plus, there's this weird thing where the cards stay on your record way longer than the actual bans last, which is why those smaller point hits eventually stack up and trigger more suspensions.
If you hit an accumulated 1000 points, you're looking at a permanent ban.

So how long does the ban actually last once you cross that 100-point mark?
I'm pretty sure I racked up over 1,000 myself, and I was banned for ten days before they finally let me back in...

Unfortunately, no—your first 500-point penalty expired before the second one even hit.

A day, two, three?

I'm thinking it’s basically one day per hundred points... though, honestly, I don't really care much about the specifics since I'm not pulling moderator duty anymore.

Dead lake.

I mean, if someone actually went out and disciplined those kids or beat them, they’d just be labeled an abuser.

Honestly? This whole world deserves one honest-to-God fallout.

People often wonder what kind of children act like this—killing small animals or doing such sadistic things. It makes you question who brings such offspring into the world...

The new season of True Detective offers a universal answer to that question:

There was some mathematical debate happening over in the Champions League thread earlier. Rather than cluttering up that conversation with my thoughts, I figured I’d just start a new one right here.

Someone on my Facebook feed dropped a link today to something that was, quite frankly, absolute genius.
Is there any real difference between 3% of 50 and 50% of 3? Mathematically speaking, they are exactly the same. It’s one of those little numerical symmetries that feels almost too neat to be true, doesn't it?
It’s a simple matter of arithmetic, really. Is twenty-five percent of fifty not exactly the same as fifty percent of twenty-five? The math remains unchanged regardless of how you flip the equation. It's a small, elegant symmetry.

I honestly can't wrap my head around how I’ve managed to get by this far without knowing this. How did I even function?

It is truly remarkable how much easier calculating percentages becomes once you actually grasp the underlying logic. Isn't it strange how something that feels like an insurmountable hurdle one day suddenly becomes trivial once the concept clicks?
Well, I suppose I was unaware.

I’ve just stumbled upon what might be one of the most powerful mathematical shortcuts ever devised: the "rule" for multiplying two-digit numbers by 11. Honestly, why wasn't this taught in every American elementary school?
Well, damn... this is getting intense.

EDIT:
It all comes down to some incredibly basic math, really. But then again, who actually stops to think about that?

It’s true, it’s incredibly practical. I actually used that exact method to calculate which 29% of my 17 clients were part of the sale.

Just wait until they start trolling even harder ☕

Honestly, given how much hate there was, I’m actually surprised they didn't start following Satan's playbook sooner. Who exactly were these little trolls taking orders from? The shroud of the dark side clouds everything ☕

If you're looking for something to binge while waiting for club soccer to kick off... check this out. It’s an incredible documentary about free solo climbing. Honestly, Russian Roulette doesn't even come close to this level of intensity...

if I had a time machine, I’d head straight back to 1969 to rural Arkansas, just to find this guy and have him teach me some real self-defense... 🙏

and in that scenario, I'd be 😂
