Ryan Vaughn7 wants you guys to stop being so selective with the deletions (just wipe everything out, why don't you?) because getting things back to normal shouldn't mean bringing back that old dead silence 🤷 The thread is more alive than ever, and honestly, there's less trolling happening lately... just don't go overboard with the delete button 🙂

As I said before, things are going to be a little stricter at first.

We’re going to pay extra attention to posts filled with mindless ego—especially anything involving even a hint of that Barca vs. Real Madrid rivalry. Try to keep the comparisons to the other side to a minimum; we aren't looking for provocations here.

We'll do our part to make sure quality discussions don't die out, but honestly, the direction this thread takes depends mostly on you.

So, what exactly is meant by "even the slightest hint of bickering"? We are talking about soccer here, for heaven's sake, not war crimes.

Everything that’s happened on this forum so far hasn't actually been about the sport—it’s been driven by that exact kind of back-and-forth. Real, concrete arguments will be fine—of course—but any sign of provocation or trolling in these threads will be dealt with, at least for now.

I can't help but feel like we’re swinging from one extreme to the other. What happens now when someone makes a joke about Frank, regardless of whether it's in relation to Real Madrid? Since La Liga has become such a mainstream staple, is everything just going to be scrubbed away immediately? In a league where legitimate competition is lacking for various reasons—one of the smaller major leagues at best—and where non-football elements seem more prominent than anywhere else, where does that leave us?

Do whatever you think is best, of course; this is just my two cents.

Plus, all these debates about referees and basic football stuff get shut down just because they’re "off-topic"—as if they don't have any actual fighting potential in them...

Are you seriously expecting people to discuss Real Madrid, Bale, or Tottenham here—on a Premier League board—just to avoid being called off-topic? Seriously?

If that’s the case, then your expectations are totally delusional—it's not even what a real forum is supposed to be about...

You're exaggerating a bit. I get the intention to cut down on all the off-topic chatter and nonsense, but these measures are getting ahead of themselves.

Why on earth would debating whether Bale was actually an upgrade for Real Madrid be considered off-topic? 🤷

Exactly. We were having a perfectly civil conversation without any bickering, just talking about a player who might head to Real. Discussing a potential Real Madrid signing and how they'd fit the squad isn't even really off-topic.

They didn't even delete anything—it just ended up spiraling once everyone started linking everything back to his time at Tottenham... ridiculous...

I mean, talking about a move to Real Madrid would just be totally off-topic here...🤷

Henry Lee84 and Richard Morales79, if my eyes aren't playing tricks on me, Bale is still the topic of conversation. He hasn't gone anywhere. There's no more debating whether Tottenham is just some mid-tier squad or not. By what metric, exactly, are we judging that? Why are you both acting so clueless and dense?

Nobody is going to delete the banter, just like ZZ mentioned above. But provocations and constant off-topic posts? Those will be cleared out. I’m sure there will be times when things get deleted that shouldn't have been, but whatever. At the same time, I’m just as certain some things that should've gone will probably stay up.

You all know that the Primera thread was easily the worst offender when it came to spam and off-topic nonsense.

I wouldn't say we're overdoing it. We're just trying to bring the discussion back into some kind of reasonable bounds, and eventually, this level of moderation will feel totally normal to you guys. For now, the plan is to be a bit stricter until we weed out the clutter and the spam, and then we'll see how it goes. 🙂

Why don't we have a betting thread, just like the fans do?
🤷

It’s a pretty standard topic. It doesn't belong outside the soccer subforum.
If we gave it to the fans, they'd just be total amateurs.

I’m totally with Ashley Bailey6 on this one. I stay far away from the IMF sportsbook because they’re way too strict—they’ll hand out red cards for basically nothing...

Yeah, that’d be a prime spot for some serious trolling; you could just spend every single day laughing at those ridiculous predictions, milina.

All jokes aside, I have no idea who’s doing the deleting, but this approach isn't working for anyone. Right in the middle of a perfectly healthy debate—where nobody is throwing insults or aggressively trolling—half the posts just vanish, leaving you completely lost when you try to scroll back and follow the flow of the conversation.

What is the point of contributing to these discussions, or even trying to revisit them, if they can be wiped away like that?

Every single thread about soccer tends to drift; comparisons are inevitable, often bleeding past the original topic, much like those sudden memories or side tangents that characterize any real conversation. If you strip away that ability to wander, aren't you essentially killing the discussion itself and leaving us with nothing more than live score updates?

First RIP

People were crying when this was just some dead thread about a top 5 league, back when everyone was just trolling because we clearly didn't have anything better to do... Now that things are actually happening, suddenly everything is wrong again 🤷
