silvertiger11, trust me on this—the admins have absolutely zero control over these ads 😉 They didn't put them there, and they can't get rid of them either.

It’s honestly just a headache for the owner... let's not drag the admins into something that has nothing to do with them.

Oh yeah, please, just keep drowning us in more ads. I especially love those full-screen ones where you have to hunt for that tiny, faint little X somewhere in the corner just to see what you actually clicked on. 👋 👋 👋 🙂

Let's be real: ads are a necessary evil, but they're also a godsend because they keep this Reddit alive. This gorgeous Nokia will be up for two weeks. 🙂

Since we actually give a damn about your opinion and don't want to drown this place in spam, we’re pulling the standard 160-pixel right sidebar while this wallpaper ad is running. Expect that change sometime after 8 PM tonight.

Right now, the site width is sitting at 1100 pixels. Honestly? It’s probably too wide. Long lines make reading a pain, though that’s a debate for another day. Some sites stay ad-free yet still stick to a fixed width—take the Webmaster's forum Webmaster, for example. They actually pay attention to those details and keep things at 950 pixels.

Our goal is simple: fund this site using ads that aren't aggressive and, ideally, actually useful. I don't think this one is over the top; it’s static and doesn't mess with the actual content area.

Bottom line: we're listening to you. We're looking for the least painful way to host the ads that, as I said, we absolutely need.

I guess I’m hoping the forum goes back to how it used to be once this ad expires.

Once this ad wraps up, the next one will probably roll right in. Honestly, I feel like the real fix is coming up with ads that don't constantly interrupt our flow here on Reddit or make the whole site look cluttered and messy. 🙂

This ad is incredibly aggressive. In just the last two minutes, the Reddit page vanished twice, replaced entirely by a Nokia ad. It’s definitely getting in the way of using the site.

I find it just as aggressive. Sure, it’s an improvement over the one that used to obscure the screen until it timed out, but let's not get carried away. 😢

Look, ads being what they are—they're here to stay. I totally get why you need to monetize the Reddit community, but man, I just don't get why someone over at Nokia's marketing department thought terrorizing us with their ads was a winning move. But whatever, I've never really understood marketing people anyway, so I guess it’s kind of expected...

Have you even looked at what this place looks like lately? Honestly, so much has gone down the drain (to put it politely) since you guys dropped that ad...

There are maybe 30 people on here who could actually clean this up and make it look decent—so we don't deal with this crap every time a new ad goes live. Have you ever thought about reaching out to one of them? And when I say "reach out," I mean offering them a one-time gig to fix this up, since the current crew handling the site's layout clearly can't get it done... 🙂

The ads don't bother me since I don't even see them, but those white gaps where they shouldn't be? That's annoying.

I wouldn't buy a Nokia. 😁 I can barely afford my phone, let alone a subscription.

Exactly! And honestly? This is just the tip of the iceberg. Once they get started with this kind of stuff, it’s like a drug—you can't stop them once they've got a taste for it...

I mean, look, if they put an ad on the side, fine, I get it, but why on earth are they shoving ads all over the place like this? 😕🤷

Up until now, the ads were actually pretty chill—just tucked away in the top right or maybe some "Marketing" label on the middle right, you know? But this current setup is just straight-up garbage.
