dustycrane8 said:Jason, what's the actual situation here? This moderator took a photo from a thread that’s already been locked and wiped to protect users, and then posted it here on the main board.

Was he actually penalized for doing that?
It’s definitely not the same thing as if Molly* took a photo I posted in a casual thread and moved it over to a private group.

*Or if anyone else besides a moderator did it.

Dustycrane8, please, do take a moment to actually read the very first sentence of the post you just quoted; I stated my position on that move quite clearly. 🤷

My point is this: if someone posts something on a public site, you can argue until you're blue in the face about how tacky it is to circulate that link through other sub-forums, but the reality remains that the responsibility lies with the person who put it on the internet in the first place.
Please, let's stop acting as though anyone here thinks it's acceptable for a moderator to dig through the archives to pull out images for public display. Honestly. Timothy Robinson2, I'm looking at you 😁
Discussing "ownership" of things found online in this specific context is, frankly, a bit of a nonsense argument.

David Foster80 said:Is that right?

Then why did some girl get slapped with a three-month ban just for posting a picture of a model? The kicker is, she was just reposting a photo he had already shared on Reddit herself.

I haven't the slightest clue what you're getting at, nor do I understand why you're directing this question toward me. 🤷

I’ve actually heard some pretty wild rumors floating around about this place. Apparently, a moderator went ahead and handed over their login credentials to a regular member just so that person could get a peek at the private moderator-only sections of the forum. It's definitely one of those stories that makes you shake your head.

honestly, I've personally felt the burn from this whole moderator clique, and despite all the reports being sent up to the admins, nothing ever actually happens.🤷

Kate Foster12 said:Seriously, honey, you're killing me. 😢

Anyway—you can't really complain when someone uses a photo of yours that you posted on this forum yourself.

Look, if you upload an image to Imgur and then just drop the link onto a Reddit thread, legally speaking, you’ve published that content to Imgur—not the forum. The site itself doesn't own the image.
Is that concept really that hard to wrap your head around?

Is there any point in even attempting to replicate such an icon? kaže:
It won’t fly. The first thing I was told when I stepped into a moderator role was that you never, under any circumstances, hand out IP addresses. If it’s true that a mod actually leaked someone's info, that’s a major breach of privacy and should trigger an immediate removal process.

Thanks, Susan Price30, that’s exactly what I was thinking.👍 But how does one actually prove anything when the evidence itself is exactly what everyone is looking for?

Is there anything more profound than the silent weight of poetry? One must wonder if we truly listen to what the soul is trying to say. kaže:
I know how it goes. Two at once. Email.Once, just once. ip.

And I know that leaking private info is basically everyone's favorite pastime—especially the moderators.

I feel exactly the same way.

Not really—but at the end of the day, once you post a photo on Reddit, you can't complain when someone else decides to comment on it over in a different thread. This reminds me of that one debate where some guy tried to claim dainty had no right to share info he'd already leaked about himself elsewhere. 🤣

Look, regarding Grazio, it’s not even about an uploaded photo; it’s just a link to the specific thread where she used to post them. So, if that thread actually got nuked, then all of us moderators are basically flying blind without our badges on. 😬

The only way this becomes an issue is if there's some rule against linking back to archived threads... 🤷

Kate Foster12 said:Anyone who hasn't mastered basic internet etiquette should probably pick up a book on it immediately.

It’s wrong to dig up images from deleted threads—morally speaking, it just isn't right—but you're the one who posted that picture here in the first place.

Btw, if we're talking about that thread over on Reddit regarding footwear, that one hasn't been deleted. 😬

The real issue here is that a moderator is leveraging their authority to do something that neither of us has the power to do. From that perspective, it’s never okay.

(Just so we're clear, this specific thread hasn't been deleted. I'm just speaking hypothetically.)

dustycrane8 said:So, we're talking about legs here?
I honestly have no idea how I missed that part; my bad. 😁

I'm going to go hunt down where she mentioned this was a leg-related topic. 😳

Well, she didn't say it anywhere.

I’m with you, dustycrane8—if things ever actually get to that point, that person ought to take a break from the forum for a while, IMHO.

Look, if you really want to get even, just hijack an admin's cookie. Pretend to be them and then ban the entire group of moderators who are giving you a hard time. 😍 😁

It's like:

Susan Price30 said:Let’s look at an analogy: suppose you wrote something in some random thread three or five years ago—is it really okay for a moderator to dig that up and parade it around just because they have the power to? Seriously.😁

The photo in question was just a picture of my feet, so it's not like anyone is going to identify me based on that, 🤣, but this is about principle. It's about whether we follow the rules or if we tolerate mistakes whenever a Moderator decides to slip up.

Just think about it... how "infallible" and fair are they actually? Even the Pope isn't perfect.🙏

Angela Ramos87 said:Wait, where’s that thread about legs and what they’re called? 🍿

I honestly can't be bothered to hunt for it right now—just peeking over at the game during this timeout—but just search for something like "LJES's most beautiful legs and toes" or whatever. And hey, maybe factor in their "expert" grammar skills too... they might have even written it as "most beautifullest." 😁

Well, you all know how it works—search engines like Google pull stuff right from the archives when you run a query, don't they? Even if the moderators have officially moved a thread into the archives, if you search for something discussed back in, say, 2007, Google will still spit out a text version of that old discussion in some sort of cluttered, messy format. I run into this quite frequently whenever I'm doing a little digging online 😁
.
Grazia, did you actually bother to check whether that thread had already been archived before you decided to post about it here? 🤔

Honestly, good for them.

Back when that one thread about similar situations popped up a few months ago... the only ones who actually stepped up to call it out clearly and without hesitation were nica and cuka.

I'm just glad they aren't flying solo on this; at least we're getting somewhere.

Well, it's because you said this:

Jason Morgan said:Once you put a photo out there on the internet, the game is over. Period. Maybe 476 people on Reddit saw it, and maybe they decide to repost it just as easily. If you actually have a grievance against someone specific, then quit being vague—tell me who, what, and where.

🤷

Back to the topic—look, I get flagged occasionally. I turn gray sometimes. But I don't consider myself a troublemaker; honestly, given how much I post, my strike count isn't even that high.
I also hate getting flagged for no reason. I don't complain when I get hit for something legitimate.
But it’s just ridiculous that I can't go into the chat where I usually hang out and vent to the group like, "Man, I just got a stupid ban for this or that."
Seriously, who cares? People make way more of a fuss over these little "bans" than they do about starting a thousand useless threads on PŽK. 🤷

I won't drag this on forever. 🤣

True, but I did go back and clarify my post afterward. You brought up a specific situation regarding some image mods and a ban—something I have absolutely no clue about, so I really can't offer a comment on it, even if that incident actually took place.

But it feels completely ridiculous that I can't just chat with the usual crew in the lounge and say, "Man, I just got a totally stupid warning for this or that."
I mean, who is actually being bothered by it?

It doesn't bother anyone, really. However, I think it would be quite an interesting experiment to occasionally allow those kinds of discussions in the chat, just so you can witness firsthand how quickly a topic spirals out of control within a few hours—assuming you haven't already seen it happen.

Eric Newman75 said:It wasn't just about the language, though. It was about the incredibly primitive, cowardly act of leaking someone's private info on this Reddit thread.

On here—and I mean on the forum, not on some random site—you should only be discussing things that a user has actually shared about themselves. At the end of the day, it's their absolute, sacred right to filter what they want to reveal. Anything involving their private life—whether you found out via DMing, grabbing a coffee at Starbucks, or even during post-coital cuddling—is absolutely not meant to be broadcast to the whole world. It’s rude, it’s unprofessional, it's low, and honestly, it says a hell of a lot about the person doing it. If you ask me, I'd hand out a permanent ban for stuff like that, no questions asked.

So, what’s the actual difference between what he's saying and Euclid?

Disklejmer: I'm not a fan of either approach, honestly—but I don't see the distinction here, especially since both of them were just rehashing stuff that had already blown up in other threads.

Does the actual content being dragged out determine whether it's "primitive and cowardly" (man, that sounds weird to type out now)? Because, at the end of the day, the principle is exactly the same.
