Exactly. By posting, I’ve basically walked away from any compensation. I’m letting Reddit profit indirectly—you know, because people read the site, which attracts advertisers and all that blah blah blah—but every single one of these posts belongs to me. Nobody can just scoop them up and move them to another platform without my permission. They belong right here.

Look, don't post photos online unless you truly don't care where they end up. Once they're out there, you lose control. At the very least, stick to boring, non-compromising shots that don't reveal anything personal.
If you're such a privacy fanatic but you have a Facebook profile packed with 500 photos and you're constantly uploading stuff to various forums, I don't get the meltdown when something eventually leaks.
Sure, someone else might be the one who leaked it, and they might not have had the right to. But when that photo lands on a site it shouldn't be on, is it really the idiot who leaked it that's responsible, or is it you for putting it out there in the first place?

It clearly wasn't about respecting "copyright" here; this was about something else entirely... some other kind of shady business, even if everything looked perfectly legal on paper.

the thing is, once you drop a post on a site like Reddit, you can't suddenly claim ownership and demand they delete it, try to charge you for using it, or start banning people from quoting you...
that post belongs to Reddit.
but, if I or anyone else actually published a book or ripped off your post and passed it off as our own work, you’d have every right to sue us for copyright infringement, because at the end of the day, it's your creation.

Thanks for clarifying. That makes sense.

What happens to posts, images, or threads once they’ve been moved to private archives or deleted entirely?
If something shows up in a search but looks like a deleted thread, does that mean they just moved it to a different section?

Is there an actual rule regarding this? As far as I know, the only guideline is that old threads shouldn't be bumped or commented on, yet some of the newer mods seem to issue bans for it almost instantly.

Susan Price30, I’ve already pointed this out to you more than a few times now, but the thread hasn't been deleted

Look, don't mention it. Are you planning on actually stopping this harassment now? ☕

I was just confused about where the thread went—since I couldn't find it and I thought the mods said they were going to pull it—but I guess we've cleared that up now.

Thanks for being patient... honestly, it was just about one inappropriate photo, but there's no point dragging this out any longer. We're good.

I asked A and MM for the link and requested that they send it via private message rather than posting it here—something I’m certain they would respect—but as for who you actually are, I haven't the slightest clue.

Why on earth did you post that link here after I specifically asked you not to?🙄☕

So, when are they actually allowed to collect and use personal data?
Basically, they can collect and process it if:
– you give them your consent, or
– there are specific legal reasons under U.S. law.
If it's based on your consent, they can only use that data for the exact reason you said it was okay for.
Without getting consent first, they can still handle data:
– if it’s necessary to meet legal obligations held by the data controller, or
– to protect someone's life or physical safety if the person can't legally or physically give permission themselves, or
– if the processing is required for tasks done in the public interest or while exercising official government powers, or
– if the person made that information public themselves.

Anything else unclear, Susan Price30? 🙄
