There are times when even ten of us wouldn't be enough, given how fast troll threads pop up in a single day or the sheer volume of posts flying in every hour.

I don't see any massive surge in post counts or new threads since my days as a moderator over at Reddit, so I really don't think they need three mods there.

Besides... there's the report button (or the option to send a PM). People aren't supposed to tag moderators directly in threads, even in a chat thread.

And as for the Trash forum theme... good grief, that was a hot potato even ages ago. I remember Azriel and I constantly having to brainstorm ways to manage it, almost as if that specific thread were its own separate PDF. It was just constant, constant, constant complaints from people about it.🙄 I'm honestly not surprised it finally reached a breaking point for someone.

Look, I'm not trying to join the whining about missing threads and I have zero interest in fanning the flames here, but seriously—WHY? If you post something on a forum, you have to accept the reality that one person will think it's brilliant, another will think it's stupid or boring, and someone else will find it so hilarious they just want to mock it. There's a massive difference between some user oversharing their private life and then crying because they're worried about being recognized, versus a user who intentionally writes a post and doesn't care which subforum it lives in—only to have everyone start screaming and throwing a tantrum when that post gets crossposted elsewhere. Why do you guys obsess over stuff like that? Why are certain regular users treated like protected wildlife in their own little corners, demanding intervention the second they see their posts show up on Reddit, while the regulars who actually hang out on Reddit get kicked to the curb? Why does one person's complaint carry weight while another's is completely ignored?

Once again, it feels like pure stupidity and forum political correctness are winning out over actual humor. 😢And I'm not even talking about the mods mostly; I'm talking about those ego-driven types who can't even laugh at their own posts.

I voiced my take on this matter quite a while ago.
If someone can't handle seeing their posts show up in threads like Reddit or the champion of stupidity, then they probably shouldn't be posting on the site at all.
The only real distinction between these two topics is that one allows comments while the other doesn't—which is why the latter remains untouched.
But honestly, it’s precisely because of those comments that Reddit stays so popular. And it’s also exactly why it’s constantly under attack. It's a bit of a vicious cycle.

All I’m saying is, I’m not at all surprised that after all the drama, the constant bickering, and the nonsense surrounding this topic, the moderators finally just lost their patience.

🙂
Look, couldn't we have just disabled comments on that thread too? Maybe it wouldn't have been quite what it used to be, but at least it would still exist. It meant a lot to people and was a great thread; why not try to find a way to keep it alive?

I just want to say I'm not surprised at all that after all the attacks and the endless drama surrounding that topic, the mods finally just lost their patience.

Just enough reason to be surprised. A person gets bored with life, and then they get bored with a PDF they're moderating.
But instead, they say: "They're attacking us because of you, it's getting too hard to deal with, we can't do this anymore." They don't say: "Look, the thread is stupid now, so we're deleting this garbage that serves no purpose." Sure, the quality dropped, but if I recall correctly, it was still great back in the day—and my registration date is 2010. These are just phases a thread goes through.

Well, clearly plenty of attempts were made.
It started out with standard moderation, then the insults started flying. Then came the warnings stating certain behavior wouldn't be tolerated. After that, they moved on to handing out bans more aggressively.
So, what’s left on the table?

The only option left is to just shut off commenting altogether. But in my opinion, if you do that, it isn't really the same thing anymore.
But hey, fine... the mods and admins are the ones in charge here.🤷

Look, you don't need three moderators over there. You just need one person who can spare ten minutes a day to actually clean things up. Do that every single day and—voila—you have a maintained PDF.

Right now, none of the moderators give a damn. Simple proved her entire "brilliance" by just deleting the thread.

It’s like when my mom tells me to clean my room—I’d honestly rather just set the whole thing on fire. The room is a disaster, and frankly, she won't be bothering me about it anymore once it's ash. 😕

If you guys aren't capable of moderating a few threads and some posts, then just hand the job over to someone else.

Fine, let's keep going. We’ll stick to a specific set of rules, I guess. 🤷

Reddit isn't the only place with threads that are both provocative and popular. There are plenty of other "harmless" threads where controversial topics are handled in a way that keeps everyone satisfied. Take the Cosmetics and Fashion corners, for example; they have threads where people comment on actual photos of real users. You can't claim those topics haven't caused issues here and there, nor can you say they're easy to moderate. But eventually, everything gets sorted out once you establish a clear set of rules defining what constitutes harassment versus acceptable community behavior. It’s all about distinguishing between a personal vendetta and objective commentary—like the stuff you see on Reddit.

Everything is negotiable. Always.

Why is everyone fixated on the Reddit threads when we’re actually complaining about the lack of moderation across this entire sub-forum? Yes, I agree, it's a shame those specific threads aren't there, but I'm even more disappointed that the whole section is left completely unmoderated and neglected.

What slywolf45 wrote regarding the attempts to moderate the Trash section—sure, that happened, but that was ages ago. For several months now, the entire sub-forum hasn't seen any real moderation at all, and that is the core issue here!

Also, looking back, whenever Azriela got a bit more active on the PDF a few months ago, the whole place would suddenly liven up.

Then Simple stepped in and... nothing. No moderation, no substance. She brought it to the state it's in today.

Simple, how many PDFs have you actually opened since becoming a moderator on Reddit? How much have you actually contributed to the discussions? I've only ever seen you in the chat thread...

My main issue is that the Reddit thread was deleted 🤔 😁
I still check everything else regularly. It’s true there isn't always much worth reading, but I'm not going to lose my mind over a lack of moderation since there aren't many posts per day anyway.

And yeah, I think this trend of deleting and wiping threads is bad news for such a small PDF.

I’d also like to take a moment to thank the admins for completely ignoring this thread, even though they clearly know exactly what's going on here.
I realize the Trash subforum might not be a priority for you all, but for those of us who have been posting there for ages trying to keep it alive, it matters. I should also thank them for making sure every single part of this site is being moderated properly and with actual quality.
Keep up the good work. Cheers.

Nobody is actually ignoring you just because you didn't get an immediate reply
and please, let's keep the sarcasm to a minimum, because it really doesn't fly in this space

Fine, so what are you actually going to do about it? Or are you perfectly fine with things staying exactly this way?

Just one more question for Simple—if you really didn't take this personally and were just "cleaning up the PDF," why did you delete the threads about Facebook and Reddit, yet leave that old chat topic untouched?

Does an old locked chat thread have some kind of special status? Any specific significance regarding the PDF? 😕

Look, if you had just said, "We're keeping an eye on this and will handle it," then our sarcastic remarks wouldn't even be necessary.🙂

Look, I hate to say it, but all these sarcastic comments weren't really necessary in the first place. A little bit of patience wouldn't hurt anyone; after all, Trash is still here. 🙂

Let's please not let this thread turn into just another shouting match, because the only thing that'll happen is someone's going to lock it down, and I don't think anyone actually wants that. Thanks.

The admins have been aware of this thread from the very start—and since we’re heading into day three without having moved an inch from zero, I honestly don't know how else to read this, other than as straight-up ignoring us.

The moderators have gone head-to-head with the very soul of this subforum. Look, a small corner of the internet like this only works if it’s anchored by a core group of regulars, with the occasional passerby or wanderer drifting in.
Right now, you’ve got those loyal veterans on one side, and the mods on the other. It’s a standoff.
If the current mods stay put, nothing changes. This sub stays hollow, losing its core identity and becoming nothing more than a revolving door for random tourists.
Removing the mods isn't the answer, and dragging this thread back to the old Reddit days isn't it either—not while things are heading in this specific, messy direction.

If we actually want to bridge this gap and give this place some life again, we need fresh blood. We need someone new to shake things up.
That new person would have one primary job: moderation and cleaning up the mess, because let's face it, the current duo clearly can't keep up. Any new mod could handle the housekeeping part.

But there’s a second, much bigger requirement. This moderator needs to be a magnet. They need that natural charisma to pull in new people who will actually raise the bar. Because when you increase the volume, you often improve the quality. Or, as Stalin famously implied when he won using inferior but more numerous tanks: "Sometimes, quantity becomes quality."

For the Trash subforum, that is the perfect solution.

We need a moderator with that rare spark—someone who attracts absolute legends, someone who makes both kids and grown men feel like kids again, leaving everyone else watching with a smile and a sudden sense of nostalgia.

Then, the PDF will finally bloom. Keep the serious mods as they are, add one person like the one I'm describing, and together they’ll produce this perfect mix of "unserious-serious" content. That's how you grab attention and drive visitor counts higher than ever before.

And for any forum, the bottom line is always Visitors - Posts - Visitors...

But where on earth do you find someone like that? Looking at the usual suspects, I don't see anyone. And adding another "serious" person is just a waste of time. Take velvettrucker52, for example—she’s a fantastic moderator, but can you imagine her running the Jokes section? She’d probably empty the whole sub in fifteen days.

What we need is a moderator who is inherently chaotic. There is one user here who possesses every single quality I just mentioned; she is the golden ticket for Trash. She was practically born for this sub, and she’s even expressed interest in moderating. And she didn't just say it—she turned that interest into one of the most legendary, chaotic threads this forum has ever seen.

Mulica is the perfect fit.
She is so naturally, charmingly chaotic that it’s impossible to get this wrong.

And don't go thinking this post is just some continuation of her latest chaotic spree. I'm being deadly serious here.
