I’m being completely sincere when I say kudos to Anderlon—it seems to me he possesses quite a bit of solid management talent. Someone mentioned a silent majority earlier, specifically regarding dissatisfaction with the moderation over at on the edge of science.
Well, look, the chronic flamers with thousands of posts have finally been filtered out, and naturally, those who lived for the drama are feeling a bit slighted. The more balanced folks—the ones who actually appreciate that the constant fighting and spamming has died down (though, granted, there’s still some spam because the moderators on that PDF act like they aren't even working; I get that impression since every thread is cluttered with chat and junk)—those people are better off without it. They don't even need to bother weighing in on this thread here. In my view, that is the silent majority, or at least half of them. It would be better if Anderlon "aligned" himself with that group, engaging in a more civilized manner in exchange for a diversity of opinions. That is truly commendable.
And therefore, the idea that a mass of interlocutors here is implying anything is just wrong. This isn't about suppressing certain viewpoints; it’s exactly what Keith Phillips3 mentioned.

The conditions have finally been set for people capable of actual discussion to show up—assuming such people exist, of course—but that happens gradually. Normal people simply bypass places like this that are riddled with bad manners. (I honestly consider myself a fool sometimes for even visiting places like this on the internet—you know, forums and such.) Once there’s a bit more culture established over a longer period, both those people and the rest will notice, they'll start showing up in greater numbers, and the discussions will become higher quality and more diverse.

Because of that, even Anderlon shouldn't bother addressing these false insinuations, or at least these biased and incorrect observations, as he has already assessed the situation and stated his piece. There is no point in arguing this to death; we all have much smarter and more productive things to do.

PS: I just "always" say exactly what's on my mind, regardless of what anyone else might think about it. Back when those new rules were being rolled out—with all the messy interpretations regarding signatures and such—I held my own views (not particularly great ones, admittedly) and I spoke them plainly.
