Why was this fair moderator chosen?

I'm siding with what Patrick Scott5 said earlier. Can we please stop my inbox from getting flooded with full-sized images? (fair moderator), I'm not looking to be an admin,

but maybe consider making cosmichound10 a moderator for the help section.

Basically, when a current forum mod realizes they need a hand, or they're just totally burnt out... they ask for a replacement. They either suggest someone themselves—since they actually know how this place works—or they pick one of their fellow mods. Then we get a group of potential candidates together and hash it out. Once a decision is made, we reach out to the candidate to see if they're actually down to moderate. If they say yes, then we just wait for the big boss to give the green light.
It also happens that someone will just slide into a moderator or admin's DMs to volunteer. From there, the process is exactly the same (assuming it's actually determined that we even need a mod in that spot, the current mod isn't against it, and the boss gives the okay).

Most of the new mods were basically "invited" by the old guard. In my case, an IMF official recruited me. 😬

Moderator positions aren't handed out just so people can "learn the ropes." This isn't a training seminar. If someone wants hands-on experience, they should just start their own forum and figure it out as they go. For instance, www.forumer.com lets you set up your own site using two different software options, so there's plenty of room to experiment.

I was just scrolling through the archives in the moderator's corner and saw how you guys occasionally get into it with one another...
The posts about all the drama involving romance are definitely my favorite part... haha... you moderators really are a cool crowd...
But I actually have a question... how does the payment side of things work? And honestly, I’m curious what else you can actually do once you have mod status, besides just deleting posts?
Answer me if you’re allowed to (for the money) or if you just feel like it...

And one more thing... how do bans actually work? Why do people get them, how am I supposed to know if I've been hit with one... and what's the deal with points and cards?

a) base salary
b) bonuses based on user feedback (or penalties if they mess up)

It all comes out of our current account. Sometimes the boss is late with the transfer, so we give him a hard time, but hey, nothing's ever perfect.

Well, that's probably because they're still living in the Middle Ages over there, so transferring money electronically isn't exactly an option. 😁
